Kilamanjaro Crumbles

A mountain of a man

A mountain of a hero

A mountain of love and devotion

Crumbled today

Infront of ME

In my reach

Reduced to feeling unimportant and useless

to rubble he shatters

And my heart breaks along with him

Its good to be...ME

You described quite a man, someone who you obviously have had admiration for... and, depending on perspective, you may now have an opportunity to admire him even more. Hero's requires heroines to complete them, to fill in the blanks... Even Moses could only hold up the staff so long before his arms started to give way, and the battle became defeat... You are the one who helps hold up his arms... and, anyway, isn't he a better man today, for sharing this moment, and, now, you are more than a friend, now you are a confidant who has seen a portion of his inner self, something most all of us keep under wraps... and, whatever brought on this event, he risked his hero position because of his need... Remember, men, strong, virulent, and take care of the problem, can't shed a tear tough guys, can be brought down by a flu virus. He needs to know he is still OK.... and, that his heart, now open, and in pain, will fill again, if he will let it... I don't know if this truly applies, but you are in a unique position, we all are in less of everyday, and that is to make someone we care about, have a better day, and life. May you be blessed with strength, not only is this, but in oher tribulations, and trials.... Hope all is well for you, with you. Goodbye.

He is still the man he was... only time, and the ravages of this world have torn at his mind and soul.... the deprivation of what makes up one's true self, either from alzheimers or other illness, is the most tragic. I can only assume he was a great grandfather, and it must be a great shock to see him in this transition... He is the compilation of a life where he shared much strength, compassion, love and devotion (your description), and his torment, and for those around him, your torment, is not what he would have wished for. Take comfort in knowing this... this would not be his wish, for, based on your description, he would prefer to be the man you remember... Now, it is a time where your love, and, knowing the man he truly is, you can be strong for him... in his time of need, knowing what is happenning is not truly what he would intend.

My thoughts with you.... may this trial be less today than it was yesterday....

While my problems, commentary, and presence here has been self-centered and more than a bit erotic, after rereading my initial comment I realize it's both more general in nature and more applicable to your situation than I realized.

The love of granddaughters, of grandchildren, is a powerful thing...

very powerful, and yes.... the helplessness is awful. You are a tower of strength

and I wish you all the strength you need, and then some....
