Emergency room....

So over the weekend I had the unwelcome oportunity to vist the emergency room. At which point I sat waiting after signing in for 30 minutes just to register. Then I sat and waited another 30 to have basic vitals taken, temp, blood pressure and so on. After which I waited another 45 to be called back, only to be placed on a bed in the hallway. At which point I sat and waited for 1 hr just to be seen by the nurse, the doctor came by 15 minutes later. It took another 30 minutes to get the pain medication. and another 25 to get the ultrasound, they though it might be gall stones. The wait after that was around 1 hr. The doctor finally came around again and said they could not find anything, wrote a prescription for some pain medication, said to come back if it happened again. Got the discharge papers about 30 minutes later. Have you added up the time? It comes to about 5.5 hrs, just to be told come back if the pain returns.

I do not want the pain to come back, that is why I went the first time. I went to my primary doctor the next day, and he said the same damn thing. Come back if the pain returns. So I switched primary doctors, the new one ordered a new test to try to find out if something else may be wrong with my gall bladder. At last that is better then doing nothing.

So what is the longest you have waited in the emergency room? All this happend between 12:30 am and 6 am. There were empty beds and empty rooms. There was a total of 4 other people waiting to be seen in the waiting room when I got there. There were two doctors on duty. Why did it take so long?
