how many friends ....

do you have? i mean true friends, the kind you can confide anything to? i recently read an article that was truly saddening. this writer had done research on how many adults had close friends they could confide in. do you know the average american has one good friend and that is usually a family member. this in comparision to the early 1980's when the average american had three to four close friends. they say this is due to rigid work schedules and more commuting to and from work. wow....when are we all going to slow down and enjoy life? very sad is it not?

I don't play well with others.

Seriously now, I used to have ALOT of "good time friends". If ever they needed me, I was there for them, but I never recieved the same courtesy in return, from over 90% of them. So, I went through a phase I called, "Bringing out the ax". I axed out the whole lot of them.

That's when I came to realize a very contravertial perception of friendship. People who "use" each other in a mutually benificial manner, build better relationships and become good friends. These relationships are more likely to endure hardships and the test of time. Whereas, people who have no "use" tend exhaust their friendships rather quickly.

My only true friends are my family and "loved ones".

When it comes to confiding in people, I prefer an eclectic approach. The level of trust varies with the scope of the subject, but I find the broader the spectrum of people you talk to, the bigger the picture you can see.

Yeah, I saw the same story about that study. I think they also mentioned the Internet playing a huge part in that as well. Folks are spending more and more time on sites like this and My Space instead of actually going out and interfacing with humans and having an interpersonal relationship.
