Injustice

I was watching Opera today (a show I never watch)... I was so disgusted at the horror and injustice described on today's show...

Hurricane Katrina:

Why the fuck hasn't the remnants of Hurricane Katrina been looked after, why are there hundreds even thousands of trailers sitting there empty while these poor people are sitting in homes with no roofs, some with no shelters, some don't even have a bathroom to go to!..there is still some dead bodies among them, what the fuck is wrong that the clean up cant get fully underway, is it these peoples faults for what they endured, NO!! You feel helpless and angry and hurt watching this from the comfort of your own home...

What I don't understand is they managed to start cleans up for the mudslides, the earthquakes, the Tsunami's, like hello, get these people some help already, its been six fucking months and there is still millions of debris out there...I know alittle bit of clean up has begun, but come on, this should already be dealt with, if not close to almost finished.

I wish I knew a way to help, other than donating to the red cross and so fourth, it makes me sick that these peoples lives are still disrupted SIX BLOODY MONTHS after the fact! My heart goes out to them, it makes me cry, frustrated and angry beyond believe to see that there are still so many out there who are suffering...it ticks me off even more to see they want to put Mardi Gras on this year when 80% of the city is still in ruins...

Nature is a nasty beast, but these people whom are taking their sweet ass time are just as nasty and thoughtless..I know there are thousands trying to help, I know there are caring, considerate, wonderful people out there...so why is this taking so long?

So my post is this tonight, I don't care if you comment or reply, but please when your snuggling up in your safe warm cozy bed, please think of those out there with so much less and feel blessed that you have what you have...

In the meantime, I'm going to look for ways I can help those out there in LA....sick, blatantly sick and uncalled for....INJUSTICE!

Don't get me wrong ... I love the good ole USA but it makes one wonder how our government has billions and billions to spend for war but can't clean up this absolutely horrific disaster.

Good post. I could go into a lot of detail on how we can help, but most of those things are common sense. Just like the US, the recent Phillipines mudslide disaster and the Pakistani Earthquake are all events that desperately need our help. The least we can do is aid them financially. Thats why what i always do is try to donate atleast 100 bucks ( iknow its not much, but still) everytime i go on a shopping spree.

..Keeps my money spending in check, and helps the poor. haha!

I think a lot of the problems in New Orleans have had to do with its infrastructre, one that has been decaying rapidly over the years, plus with its rampant poverty (one of the poorest large cities in the US) makes for a terrible combination. That being said, we should have been able to do more and I saw much of what was being done for evacuees in both Dallas and Houston. In the end, it still has not been enough. All we can do is still extend our hands and say 'Let me help...', for if we dont care about others, then who will? I understand it is tough not to fall into apathy, or to despair of the situation(I am guilty myself), but if act toward the good will of others in need, perhaps we might see a little more hope. (terribly idealistic, I know, but it's worth a shot
