So You See What I'm Dealin' With!

I took my mom, who has Alzheimer's, to see her sister, who is bordering on deafness. This is how their conversation went:
Phone Rings:
Mom: Do you want me to get that?
Aunt: Get what?
Mom: The phone.
Aunt: I don't answer my phone.
Mom: What if it's one of your kids?
Aunt: My kids are here?
Mom: No, but that could be one of them trying to reach you.
Aunt: Why do they have to teach me anything?
Mom: Do you remember her? She was the best teacher we ever had!
Aunt: No, he preached last Sunday (her husband)
Mom: I like caramel on mine, but chocolate is good too. How'd your test at the hospital turn out?
Aunt: I had a test done this week too! They'll call me with the results.
Mom: How will you know, you don't answer your phone!
Aunt: The phone's ringing? Don't worry, I don't answer the phone!

We had this same conversation EVERY TIME THE PHONE RANG!!!! By the way, it rang SEVEN times! It is now officially time to chill.

That is funny, but at the same time kind of saddening. I guess we all will have to deal with those types of problems once we hit old age, but I'm not gonna think about it now, although it'll probably be here before we know it since time seems to be going by so quickly these days.

It really is sad, but I just try to spend as much time with her as I can. All you can do is laugh or cry, so I laugh. Most of the time.

It can be VERY frustrating, but I wouldn't trade my time with her for anything. Thanks for stopping by my blogs! BTW, great hair!

Bless you for going to the effort to spend time with them... as much as you need chill time afterwords... you will never regret the time shared.

You're so right. I didn't realize until this last year how quickly I'm losing her. Even in her confusion, she has a great sense of humor so we have alot of fun together.
