Red Bull & Lunesta

Anyone who knows me well knows that these are my 2 favorite non-sexual things! I guzzle Red Bull all day and then chill ever so slightly with a Lunesta at bedtime. I'm an insomniac and use the Red Bull to burn me out, kinda like giving Ritalin to Hyper kids. The only problem is, it fucks up my sugar. I have extremely low blood sugar and the Red Bull shoots it up and then it drops like a rock. So I've had to limit myself to 1 Red Bull a day. What is this world coming to? I MISS it! Every once in a while, I just can't stand not having it and I'll have several. Oh, it tastes SO GOOD!!!!! And I'm out of Lunesta! But not to worry, I'm going to see the doc this afternoon for my refill. I'm usually doing good to get about 5 hours sleep a night and can function perfectly well on 4-6. How much sleep do YOU require? My husband sleeps 10 hours per night, sometimes napping during the day. But he's on alot of meds that cause sleepiness. He does some hilarious things though. He is a "sleep eater" which can be a terrible problem for many people. But one morning, he asked me if we had any Lea & Perrins worcestershire sauce. I replied that we had a full, unwrapped bottle and he said "Not anymore". He had gotten up in the middle of the night and drank it without waking! Does anybody else DO this? Do you sleepwalk? Talk in your sleep? Do OTHER things in your sleep? Let's hear it people! I want to know!

I don't take meds, except for an aspirin a day to combat heart attacks. The best way to fall asleep is to be tired from physical exercise. Including sex...

You're right, but unfortunately that isn't usually an option! Although when I DO get some, I sleep like a baby!

I like to get 7 hours of sleep a night. My job is fairly phisical so I need my sleep.
My ex used to get mad at me cause I would constantly fall asleep on the couch, & sometimes not make it to the bed. Now I find if I stay busy on the computer its easyer to stay awake While also watching tv.

But I must admit I have fallen asleep in front of the computer too!
lol....

Have you fallen onto the keyboard? It's so funny, it makes a beep, beep, beep until you move! One of my cats likes to sleep on my laptop and I can always tell from the noise it makes.

Ohhh I like Red Bull too, but Relentless is/was better. CocaCola were makng it for a short while then my local supermarket said it had been discontinued.
I love the caffine rush but I've had to limit myself too because it gives me the shakes after the 5th can of the morning.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.

Don't you hate that? Everytime I get something I like, it's gone!

I'm an insomniac. I've had Ambien (its like sugar pill to me) and it was so useless that my shrink combined it with an antipsychotic. What a joke! I wouldn't sleep at night but then I'd be a narcoleptic by day. Yeah my serotonin levels are insane

Oh yeah...there IS sugar free Redbull! Maybe you've tried it and it isn't the same but just in case ya didn't know

tee hee

I've seen the sugar-free Redbull but just can't drink the diet stuff. Terrible aftertaste! I agree with you about the Ambien. It didn't do anything for me. I take the Lunesta with 2 otc sleeping pills, 2 sudafed, an Allegra-D, Lexapro (prescribed for sleep, not depression) and 150mg of my epilepsy med which is also a sedative. Needless to say, I am immune to most sedatives. I've built up such a tolerance for pain and sleep meds. i'm so glad you stopped by my blog! I've read yours and love it!

Lately I've been on the 48-12 sleep pattern

48 hours awake
12 hours asleep

akron42 replies on 7/7/2006 5:40 pm:
Does that work out? Just curious. I don't think I could sleep 12 hours in a row!

I've been thinking of giving up sleep. It interferes too much with my insomnia.

Ever try detoxing from all the caffeine and sugar? I did last year, and now it gave me a good idea of where I need to be and I had so much more energy. It sucks when I get around people drinking a lot of soda or if I need to stay up ate and I drink a coffee. Then the cycle starts over again. After drink larger Jearger & Redbull shots on the 4th, and soda over the weekend I am back to sugar free soda now. By next weekend I will be off to water again, then my energy should bounce back by mid week. It is really an addiction. Ask your doc to test you for insulin resistance, the precursor to diabetes. Could be another problem... makes you really crave sugar

akron42 replies on 7/7/2006 5:43 pm:
Actually, I have reactive hypoglycemia. I have a hard time keeping my sugar high enough so I require a certain amount, I just have to try to balance it with carbs/fats to keep it from dropping so quickly. Sounds like you've gotten control of your sugar. Thank you so much for all the good info!
