Right vs Wrong

When I first became a blogger, soemone caught my eye. Smart, so smart and you know how I am, if you're smart and can make me laugh, anything is possible.

So, ProtonicMan and I started talking. He was just getting over a breakup that he couldn't really understand. In all honesty I couldn't understand it either, I mean come on, who would kick TJ to the curb?

We started talking all the time, almost every night. Had some really "interesting" conversations too. One day he tells me that he's been looking at airline schedules he has some frequent flyer miles he can use. Where are you going I ask. And he tells me he's coming to see me.

I just about shit when he said that because I would've given my right arm to feel his touch. I took a deep breath and I said, "have you been invited?" "no, you have not." "There is a reason that you have not been invited." Now the whole time I am saying all this I am sure that I am really hurting him. I've done the LD thing before it didn't work. He's in Michigan and I'm in Alabama.Looking down the road, he has a 5 year old that he has joint custody with the ex, he can't leave Michigan for that reason. I have a 76 year old mom I can't just up and leave.

So even though TJ and I had some major lust going on and it wasn't just a sexual thing because we can talk on all fronts, we share the same opinions on many things. We comforted each other when we both needed it.

I love TJ, that's why I didn't let him come to see me. I love him enough to do the right thing. He is a wonderful friend. My friend is in love with a sweet lady from Michigan who he almost killed when he ran over a deer on his motorcycle. He is happier than I have ever seen him personally.

I am glad that I said no. He was still in love with her and they've rekindled it since then. He blogs about it occasionally. I will have to admit that there for a while I had a hard time with this. I was jealous (and still am a lil bit). Being 900 miles away from someone you love would suck. BTDT and I paid for the tshirt Makes your life more difficult!!

That was a cool post...I know what you mean about distance...but sometimes if you feel right about it you should take the chance..others have. You just never know, you know?
But sounds like all worked out for the best with you two. Thanks for sharing.

It's a great feeling to connect the dots back to a decision that was made to validate it. The question is..... If he'd flown down and then called, would you at least have met him for dinner? Some would consider him irresponsible, some would be very flattered. Obviously, you two knew each other well enough not to leave the decision to chance which is probably the smartest decision of all. Hope you do get to meet each other someday. I'm sure you'd have a blast.

I am sure that was a hard decision for you to make. I'm glad that both of you have been able to maintain such a close bond/friendship.

I think it's really only a big problem when you have something that glues you to one place, as you two did. For the rest of us, we can pretty much up and leave if we find the love of our life. I would, anyway.

P.S. I think that was a very caring and unselfish thing to do, and it proved that you really do have his best interests at heart.
