My non-bag

I don't carry a purse. This makes me a little uncomfortable sometimes when I see women oooing and ahhing over handbags.

I don't feel the need to carry one. I don't want to drag around a purse, besides I leave it everywhere I go.

I've tried to make myself use one, I've bought the matching shoes and bag. Even bought the matching billfold to go with it. It all looked very cute together, but it just wasn't me.

Women say, well don't you need "stuff"? Yeah, I need stuff but I don't usually need it all at the same time. If it won't fit in my pocket, I don't need it.

Lipstick, pocket. Keys, pocket. Money, pocket. Tampon, pocket. Drivers license, credit card in the back pocket.

I suppose it comes down to choosing to lug a purse around or to be independent and not feel the need for all the things the television says women must have.

Whatd do you guys think>

No cell phone? Lucky you!

I didn't carry a purse until I started lugging the cell phone.

Nope, I'm a girly girl, raised by a girly girl. I lug around vast quantities of stuff. Work badge, wallet (money and plastic), separate change purse, car key, car clicker, house keys, cell phone, makeup pouch with probably way too many makeup options in it (I mean, who else carries around four or five lipsticks at a time? I ask you), kleenex, tampons, mints, pens and a little notebook, Advil, occasionally a PDA, hairbrush/comb, eyedrops/ lens case, glasses... Gawd.

Hubby tried in vain to get some sort of "purse buddy" thing to make my handbag-to-handbag transfers easier, but HA! I have way too much stuff for it to work. And the transfers happen almost daily, because the handbag needs to match my shoes/outfit when possible. Occasionally I rebel. I say "I don't need all this!" I gleefully take a tiny little change purse, stuff all my money into it, grab my cell phone and keys...

And realize that some of my clothing just doesn't have pockets. And walking around with two fistfuls of stuff doesn't help, either.

Having a purse is a good thing, it's the norm for Americna women. I am the one that's abnormal (as usual)

I have to have a book with me at all times. And a pen. And paper. And Tums, Tylenol, and Benadryl. And a brush. And Kleenex.

I don't carry a purse, I carry a tote bag.

absolutelynormal replies on 7/31/2006 8:09 am:
very normal too. If I had to carry anything it would probably bemore like what you're talking about. I do have this huge purse that looks more like a backpack. I use it to smuggle Mountain Dew into the movie theatre cause they only have coke products.

What...No Condom??? Just kidding.

Hey, is that a lipstick in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me??? Just kidding again.

I'm somewhat fashion conscious, but do women's pants always have pockets? I thought that women wear the tightest possible pants (not that I mind) with no unsightly bumps or bulges or panty lines (although I'm sure your thongs take care of that).

Like FUN, I'm not surprised that you're that practical. Makes perfect sense to me. I guess it comes down to carrying around what you use everyday versus what you MIGHT need once a week or month. Sounds like you've come up with the best solution.

By the way, I have a guy friend who carries around a murse and I DON'T want to know what he has in there....

the teens and 20 somethings are the ones who where their pants skin tight and cut down to there. Even if they are tight, I still put what I need in my pockets, if someone doesn't like it, FUCK THEM!

Wow. By this description, Mac is a very low-maintenance woman. Damn, some guy in Alabama is gonna be very lucky to have her some day!

absolutelynormal replies on 7/31/2006 8:18 am:
We've had this discussion TJ, what are the chances that someone here in AL is a great match for me, slim to none. Most of the men here are rednecks.... say 90% and that leaves 10% and we all that 10% of the population is gay. I rest my case.

No purse here, Mac. I've got one of the RAZR phones, so it's barely noticable in my pockets, very few keys on my non-work keychain, and I can carry my checkbook in my hand.

I'll lose track of a purse anyhow. It just gets in my way.

Are wetfingeraz and I the only honest persons to 'fess up? My name is mmmgood, and I'm a cartaroundalotofcrapa-holic!

In my defense, lately said handbag has primarily taken on the guise of a backpack, with tons of books, notebooks and pens as well, while I'm in school.

P.S. And yes, I like shoes, too.

I like shoes too, but only comfy ones. I hate heels, although they look very pretty I just can't do it, if feel outta character or something.

Apparently my truck is my purse. In it I always have some reading material, pen, paper, hair brush, chap stick, gum, mints, sunglasses, checkbook, some change and a bottle of water mostly for the mutt but me as well in a pinch. The wallet from hell has also been retired to riding around in the truck. I mean, how's a girl gonna check my ass if there's a lump the size of Nebraska on it?

absolutelynormal replies on 7/31/2006 8:24 am:
You must get tired carrying that truck around

..funny guy!!

I don't carry a purse either......or a briefcase or a man-purse...or a hand bag or even a wallet. I have a little thing for my plastic collection and ID, and some cash and keys. The cell phone stays in the car or it clips on my belt

I feel sorry for the pick pocket who gets the wrong pocket and ends up with the tampon. Or if he is a really good pick pocket....oh, never mind, I won't go there.
