Lift and Lose

I've not noticed any severe changes in my body structure as it's only been one week. The only little change that I see is in my pectoral region (chest)and it seems to be tightening up already. I have a feeling, though, that it's just from "the pump", and not b/c I've actually grown new muscle yet.

There are, however, other changes that I can say I have noticed. About a month ago, I came down w/ strep throat. When I went to see the doc, he told me my blood pressure was sitting at 140 (about two points too high), but that may be b/c I just hate going to the dr's office. Just two days ago, I retook my blood pressure, and it's down to 134. Although it's still not great, it's amazing to see how changing one's diet and working out can show improvements in such a short time.

The exciting news (not that the above isn't) is that my anxiety seems to be gone. I know that I'm still medicated, but you have to understand that even being medicated, I would have slight surges of anxiety that would disapate quickly. Now, I feel nothing. I talked to the shrink about it and asked if I could lower my dosage. He told me I was on the lowest dosage offered. When I asked him if I could cut those in half, he stated not yet... Not yet! That means maybe in the future, he will give me the go ahead to lower it, if not even stop it all together. This excites the shit out of me!

I will be sure to keep you all informed of the other benefits of my working out and any changes that I've made. I will be taking more photos at my four week mark (just 3 weeks away now). They, I'm sure, will still be slightly embarrasing, but they should be better than last week's photos, which I will post at the end of my current 8 week cycle. In the meantime, I want everybody to get naked and sing Kumbaya...

Great job!!! You'll get off the meds, just give it a little more time. I'm hoping to get off my blood pressure meds soon. Thanks for the little push you gave me to start working out again

Working out is said to be good for you mentally, physically and healthwise. Reason that you feel so good! I'll sing along with you, but no naked pics! I want to see YOUR abs in a few weeks!

Cats...

I have never fully seen my abs... I've come close w/ my obliques, but never the coveted six pack. Hopefully I can by the end of summer.

Naked Kumbaya? this should get intresting .... meanwhile, you are doing great on the workout regime. If you can get through those moments that you posted about with all that pain nad stress, the next 7 weeks should be a piece of cake!

Aas, don't forget cardio. Minimum of 20 minutes prior to lifting to heat the core. Good warmup and gives the lifting extra benefit. Protein within 30 minutes of workout.
Lookin good man!

Gerson, I would normally agree w/ you on doing cardio in between lifting days, however, on this particular program, I'm not concentrating on burning too much fat. I'm actually trying to gain bulk (not fat). I don't want to jeapordize my muscle building by running.

Hey Little Buddy!

"naked kumbaya"... naaah I don't think so! LOL

Congrats on the working out!! It does take time to build muscle... after a hard workout you should take in protein within one hour... and no BEER does not count!! LOL LOL

You will be amazed at your strength imncreases! I know I am...

As you know.. I workout with a trainer.. whom was a professional body builder.. and certainly he is not in his prime condition.. I am now approaching his workout!! We workout together ocassionally and I am very close to matching him pound for pound and rep for rep on upper body and he CAN'T DO MY LEG WORKOUT!! LOL

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MY FRIEND!!!

Yes, I definitely drink my shake w/in one hour after my workout. I haven't been drinking, except for my cheat day.

That's great to hear about you surpassing your trainer! I'm very impressed. Hopefully I will get that strong and big before the end of the summer.

I'm partial to 'It's A Small World' while running naked through a field of daisies...

But that's just me.
