Hypnosis

If you've been through hell and back again in a particular relationship, would you ever consider using hypnosis as a way of forgetting it? If it were a guarantee, would you do it?

NO. All of my life experiences both good and bad make me whole.

How will you ever appreciate the mountain tops in your life, if you choose to forget the canyons you crawled through to get there?

I don't think so unless it was abusive, we would not retain what we learned from these relationships.

No..I think all experiences bad and good make us who we are..and there are lessons to be learned in bad relationships

Isnt that what that Jim Carrey/Kate Winslet movie was about? Ditto what Saddle says.

NO, without those memories you might not appreciate the right relationship when you find it.

Sweetie...hypnosis does not make you "forget" things...it just allows you to "walk thru" them in a gentle manner. Very important that you trust the one who puts you "under". In truth, hypnosis is a fantastic way to deal with something that seems a little scary, and contrary to popular belief, you're pretty cognizant the whole time, you're just very relaxed. So...if you're ready - go for it!

I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn

Ditto to everything above! Tempting as avoiding the painful emotions may be, the lessons learned are necessary for the progress of our souls and our lives.

elbman - I agree w/ you. I wouldn't do it either. It is the bad times that really make you appreciate the good times! Thanks again for your comment.

caress - Do you think you can learn anything from abusive relationships? I think you can. I think it would teach you to look for abusive patterns w/ your next possible partner.

saintlianna - It might be... I have never seen the movie. I just thought of it yesterday when I was wallowing in self pity. I was thinking how nice of a day it could have been w/out the knowledge of my ex... Thanks for your comment, sweetie!

impish - I'm really not considering it... The concept behind the question is the facinating part to me. I was curious if people would really try it, if given the opportunity.

Wouldn't do it-
Everything we go through in our lives, makes us who we are.
We learn from our experiences!
Take whatever has happened to you and go with it, no matter how long it takes you to get over it........
I'll be there to hold your hand along the way......
~~Luv ya, man~~

Nope, wouldn't do it. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Just my two sense.
