United We Stand...

I find it so sad to read and hear about all of the division in our country. The Left ranting about the Right, the Right raving about the left. Libertarians raging about the Left and Right. Socialists fuming about the Capitalists...it just goes on & on.

I've grown so weary of it all. No one says anything constructive. Not a single group is willing to help be part of the solution. There is no compromise. There is no understanding, no compassion, no willingness to see things from the others point of view. There is only name calling, mud slinging, anger and hate. At the risk of sounding like a 60's reject (which I'm not) "Where is the Love?"

There are fanatics in all groups, and it is up to the more median of the bunch to keep a level head and try to see all things from an objective point of view. Unfortunately, there seems to be more people willing to follow the glibbering of the extremists then there are people willing to Lead.

I will not vote for something simply because my "party" endorses it. I do not vote straight party on any issue, but I go with what I believe in. I will not even stoop to listening to words of hate, name calling, or any personal "dirt" that is being flung around. I'm tired of it, and all it does is cause me to be disgusted with the people doing it.

Please, let's remember that we're ALL AMERICANS. It's the only adjective that matters.

Mrs. Xes

i agree with everything you've said. is it just me, or does it seems like all this started about the same time that bad-mouthing your opponent in an election campaign became the norm? that in itself makes me not want to vote for anyone.

Some years ago a few people tried to get a movement started to vote out all incumbents no matter whose side they are on and then continue to do so until we rid ourselves of all carreer politicians and return these jobs to statesmen whose main concern is the will of the people and the good of the country.
Sounds like a great idea to me.

The only reason I do not agree with some conservitives is their complete intolerence of what two people over the age of eighteen can do together, such as gay marriage. Love is.......they should be able to vow their love to each other in a public setting.

Saint, I am a conservative, and I believe that the government has no business legislating relationships...period. I know many of the more median conservatives, like myself, who feel this way. Unfortunately, as stated above, it is only the fanatics that command attention, and the rest of us just get lumped in to the stereotype.

Thank you for qualifying your statement by saying "some conservatives".

But, remember, this is how they make money and keep us distracted from the real issues at hand. It's a magic show. I am equally (if not moreso) fed up however.

I thought about voting out all the incumbents too, but it wouldn't work. All the people own the current incumbents would see this, and simply buy out the newbies. It's not just that we need to rid ourselves of the current politicians, but we need to put people in office who don't care about money and want to see changes made.

I figure, screw Democrats and Republicans, I'm going to start my own political party for the intelligent people who don't need to vote a party line. Call it a party of independents

Ptalk - Even those with good intentions, and no apparent love of money are corrupted by it and the power that they are given over people. I don't know the answers, but am simply fed up.

Tiller - Thank you for the reminder.

I'm a conservative who also doesn't beleive the government should have ANYTHING to say about what people do in their own bedrooms. All the political bitching and backbiting and mudslinging just makes me want to puke. I'm SSSOOO sick of these people running on how bad their opponent is;;;; it just makes me miss Ronald Regan that much more. Ever notice how great it was/do you remember how great it was to have a leader who stood for something, who ran on his principals and ideas and governed that way? who gave uplifting speaches that were unashamedly PRO AMERICA? Remember how the people of this country rallied around his speaches and how PROUD TO BE AMERICAN he was and made the country feel? EVEN IF you didn't agree with his ideas and policies, you must admit he was a real breath of fresh air to the political scene in Washington DC. All politicians do anymore is fire shots at the other guy instead of telling us what they themselves will do, stand for, and hope to bring to the leadership of the country. I really miss voting for someone who has a positive message and asks us to vote for them based on their merits, beleifs and what they wish to do FOR America, instead of just badmouthing their opponent and slandering them. Give me something te vote for and beleive in and not asking me to vote for you because you're not as bad as your opponent.

I'm really tired of going into the voting booth and standing there trying to figure which one of these assholes who are candidates is least likely to fuck up the country worse than it already is. Which one is going to stay the hell out of my business, not to mention try to pass legislation that's just designed to make my wallet thinner and the government bigger. Which one really does understand the constitution and beleives in it and the freedoms we the people have that are spelled out so clearly in it, and understands that the government is NOT supposed to interfere with, nor try to run our lives. For God's sakes, they tell us how many gallons of water our toilets are allowed to use per flush, tell us and Detroit what kind of fuel mileage the cars MUST get, what kind of light bulbs we "should" be buying, how much tax money they're going to TAKE from us, and now they've taken over Chrysler and GM and the entire banking system! Will somebody please show me just WHERE in the Constutution it says the federal government has the right to regulate ANY of this?!? It's not in the constitution of these United States. I can tell you that much. Sorry for ranting,,,, I'm just fed up and pissed off at what the "AMERICAN SHEEPLE have allowed the politicians to do to us and our country, while just sitting back and keeping their mouths shut and their opinions to themselves instead of writing to these assholes who we elected who are SUPPOSED TO BE REPRESENTING US! Not "ruling over us" like were nothing but cattle. We are not cattle and we don't need the government to tell us how to live our lives, what kind of cars we MUST drive, what kind of light bulbs to buy, what kind of power source we should be generating our electricity with, what kind of guns we CAN have if any, or who should be allowed to have a sexual relationship with who, or any of the other crap they've stuck their noses into and passed legislation on that they Constitutionally DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DO! Your turn to vent, but PLEASE do it by contacting your House of Representatives members, and your Senators daily. FLOOD their inboxes with your thoughts and opinions! Get their frickin attention that way and stop just idolly sitting by and watching them fuck us all out of our God given rights and freedoms! That's all I'm going to say on the matter. Hope I got your attention without pissing everyone off.
