Career Change???

So I recently left a crappy job with a good company for a job that I didn't think was crappy with a small company. Well, guess what... Looks like I have to find a new job now.

Yup, not 6 weeks after I started my new job, I no longer have it. So I'm suddenly faced with the question, am I doing what I should be doing?

I realize that when you lose a job, you often find yourself questioning your abilities and wondering if you've made the right career choice. Well, that's what I'm doing now.

All I know is like most people, I'm probably a month or so from being out on the street...

I hate looking for a new job...

Do they just have a deep sink, or is there at least a sprayer?
I did dishwashing in high school for an italian restaurant. My gawd the spaghetti sauce just does not wash off!

It is too bad X...hope you will find another soon...sometimes it is life changing...I was looking for work in the financial institution 10 yrs. ago and no opening and so I applied to be a wedding consultant and it turned out to be my true Love...been in it all these years...even owned my own company for a time.
So go hunting for 8 hrs. straight and you'll have one...I had one interview to a job I wasn't qualified and the owner hired me for I sold myself to her and convinced her, then I went to the library and studied up.
Good Luck,
flo

Thanks Flo.
I'm sure something will turn up soon.
I'm in the IT field. All I need to do is update my resume on Monster and the recruiters come crawling out of the woodwork. I've already gotten an email and I updated my resume this morning.
However, I might start thinking about another career path.

X

I found it a turning point in my life. I hated the job I was in but was too damn lazy to get off my ass and do something - I worked from home and got to go to the gym at 4 when it was off peak and the place was always tidy. Course only having a 1 bed apartment meant that I could never get away from the office at weekends and there was always the temptation to log in and work.

Then they made me redundant. I had plans for the redundancy money - that never saw the light of day. I was going to travel and have a new bathroom. But then the job offers didn't come flooding in and the salaries here are where they were 5 years ago - I couldn't live on that.

I took contracting jobs that paid half what I had been earning just to get back out there in the real world. I ended up living off my redundancy money for a while and then I ended up contracting at the place I'm working at now. I started in July last year and they realised my potential pretty quickly BUT it took them 9 months to convert me to a permanent member of staff. I've recently had some pretty shitty times there but I'm still employed and looking.

The only issue I had with the career change was the reduction in salary and possibly starting from the bottom of the ladder all over again. Not saying I'm anywhere near the top, but part way up isn't a bad place to be !

Good luck with your search - I'm always a little hesitant with some of the BS that employment agencies seem to spout.
