Simple wishes for a beautiful Day

First things first here...Happy Father's Day to those of you who are fathers, in every sense of the word. This goes to those who are both Mom and Dad to their children as well....this goes to those who are overseas fighting and away from their friends and loved ones...This goes to every Dad who has ever watched their lil girl go off to school for the first day and went home to cry about it. This goes to every Father who put their son on that bike and prayed some day he'd want a motorcycle instead...this goes to every man who has held their beautiful child in their arms while they slept. This goes to every dad who busts his ass every day to provide for the teenager that doesn't even speak full sentences to anyone in the household anymore. This goes to those who traded in their sports cars and wild dreams for a SUV and carseats. This goes to those stuck in unfulfilling marriages in order to be with their babies. May you all have a blessed day!

This is the first Father's Day for my step-dad since his son passed away in April. I can't even begin to imagine the pain he's feeling. Sitting here now, I can sense that he's awake and hurting...and I'm powerless to help or stop it. So, this Father's Day wish is for him, and any one of you who may have ever lost a son or a daughter. I remember Dad saying repeatedly during the course of losing Tommy ..."parent's should never outlive their children. It's not natural". My wish is that he can remember all of the good times, laughter, and tears he shared during Tommy's life...may he remember he was a good father to him...may he miss him, but not grieve himself to death over it. Because some of us here on earth aren't through with him....we still need him.

This also goes out to those of us who have lost our Dad's already. It's hard for me to realize it's been over 6 years since I've heard his voice....since I've smelled his aftershave. While I sit in his recliner tonight, I will remember...as I always do. I will smile and give him the laundry list of things that his granddaughter has accomplished this past year. I will remind him that I miss him and love him.

And for those Dad's who live apart from their children, may you be able to see their sparkling eyes and feel their grimy, peanut butter caked, hands on your arm. Wildchild is gone to her Dad's for this special day. I delivered her today...may she give her Dad all of the love he so richly deserves.

Sweet Dreams to all of you out there....Take Care of yourself and those you hold dear.
