Censorship of the masses is just insane.

Okay I don't like it, but I got used to having almost as much commercial time as actual program time.

I came to grips with the fact that SATC (and others) had been basically gutted of some good parts when they make their move to the mainstream cable channels. As well as the movies manage to lose important parts of the plot (Yes any nude shots and cursing as well) when they cut it to fit in on this or that main cable channel.

Now I understand for the kiddies ya want to keep it clean(even at 2am?), but there is every lock imaginable on there for that very purpose. The cable company has em, I know my television has several locks of its own. So even if you sit the kid down in front of the evil television for a babysitter it would take an adult a couple of minutes to set the cable lock to block what they felt uncomfortable with. This isn't regular network television that anyone can set up the rabbit ears to catch, it's a chunk of change every month for these channels while groups of people who think they know better censor what we as adults watch while we pay for this pleasure. (Something didn't sound right there..)

I watch the news how I want to..when I want to in clips provided by my e-mail program. I was irritated when they started placing a commercial before every clip, but I got used to it although I don't visit as often.

I was annoyed when the e-greeting place I used to use eliminated their free cards. I disliked the very frequent ads they had on my favorite games, but it was a necessary evil so I couldn't complain..My favorite game is now for paying members only, and they are moving in that direction for all of them. (I'm cheap..leave me alone lol)

For some reason though the other morning it all came out I was fully infuriated..I'd watched the (edited) Pink Floyd movie on cable earlier, and when I went in to take my shower I was listening to my regular radio station when Money came on by Pink Floyd..Okay great I think to myself, until I hear that blank spot from when they cut out the "unpleasant" parts..Now maybe I needed that game that is now a paying members only game to relax more than I thought..Perhaps it was just one of those days, but I have to admit I yelled at the radio for a good couple of minutes about this very topic. It made me feel a little better, but I am starting to realize a pattern.. They never hear me when I yell at Jeopardy or WOF either lol although sometimes that is definitely for the better.

My friend got a kick out of it as I was on my rant of the day I asked her isn't there a law against editing Pink Floyd? That just isn't right. I know that is really the least of the troubles, but for some reason it still ticked me off lol. Oh well *sigh* I guess I have to go find a new free game site to unwind..

You can thank the current administration for that.

Don't expect any of this to change until Bush's term is up.

It can't stop you from being a WildChild, though.

Pink Floyd... like a MF, WC.

Thing is, 20 years ago the radio played songs unedited. Pink Floyd, Violent Femmes... I have a very fond "80s moment" memory from HS. I worked in a clothing store at the mall and "Add It Up" came on the radio. I turned it up and we all, the other worker & few customers we had started dancing to it. It was not edited then, but it is today.

Why can't I get just one fuck?
Why can't I get just one fuck?
I guess it's got something to do with luck,
But I waited my whole life for just one...

DIVISION77 I think most of those are more of an indication of greed, or as the greediest say "just how the world works."

As far as censoring adults I could think of plenty better things those folks could be doing with their time..sadly enough they've never asked me though I can't say I see the censoring of T.V. or radio changing with anyone that is naive or dumb enough to become president for the next round..I also don't think I'll ever see us becoming the society we could be, and this stuff would be the least of our worries if we got to that point.

Nope, they certainly aren't going to keep me from that

ShawnRikar Yeah my hours tend to be a bit strange according to most of the world, but not the night owl group.

I guess they figure none of us are smart enough to know how to work any of those incredibly complicated locks. lol

Voodoo You'd never know it with how things are now. For some reason it doesn't bother me quite as much with the newer songs, but there's just something about butchering the essentials..I guess once you hear it right, there is no replacement in the botched product they broadcast. It seems to me we don't have much luck getting a balance, it's one extreme to another.

I've never heard the edited version of Add It Up, but it's probably a massacre of sorts..Much like the Pink Floyd I'd imagine.
