Holding My Attention Is Like Holding The Seven Seas

Tonight I thought I would go out. Afterall it is Saturday night so why not. I went and ate some Sushi to begin with. As I arrived at the restaurant I had three different women serve me. They would all talk to me and such. There was this guy sitting down the Sushi Bar from me and he spoke up and said 'Man,...did you drive a Ferrari here?'. He had asked that due to all the attention I was getting I suppose. I replied 'No,...I drove my 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme'. Anyway we continued talking and had an interesting conversation.

Upon leaving there I decided to venture out into the bar scene. I went to this one bar and there was a $3 cover charge. I walked in and scanned the bar for anything that would hold my attention long enough to justify me staying. The band was terrible and so was the atmosphere. I stayed for a few minutes and left.

The next bar I went to I paid another $3 cover charge. I walked in, the band was playing the theme song to the movie Titanic (Celine Dion: My Heart Will Go On). As I heard that song I wished deep down inside I was holding someone close, brushing their hair while holding their body tight to mine. Once again nothing, absolutely nothing held my attention for very long. I stayed for about 5 minutes and left.

The last place I went to I paid a $7 cover charge. This place had a great band playing and the music was rocking. This time, the first time of the evening I bought a drink. I stood there (because there was no place to sit) and scanned the horizon for a inviting, friendly, and smiling face. I found none. I finished my drink and left. As I drove down the road I thought to myself 'how silly,..go back and make a friend'. I turned my car around and headed back. As I walked back in I saw this one lady sitting by herself and she was attractive. I walked over to her and attempted to have a conversation with her. The conversation lasted all of maybe 5 minutes. She was pretty drunk and it was almost as if I wasn't there. I got up and said 'Well I better go'. She didn't even acknowledge it. Immediately afterwards I left.

I've concluded that if something can hold my attention for very long it definitely is one among a selected few that has and shouldn't be taken for granted and tossed aside. Holding my attention is like holding the seven seas.

Remember though...the point isn't so much that someone didn't hold your attention....it's that you went out there to begin with. It's soooo easy to just sit home and wish...it's a whole other thing if you put yourself out there and market it.

That's quite an intimidating statement. Seven Seas...hmmm...
