Words timeless as the song

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance.
(Garth Brooks) (The Dance)

I wonder if truer words were ever spoken?
This song defines how I feel about life and the experiences I have had in my life. I wouldn't change a thing even the bad times they made me the man I am today.
How about the rest of you, Would you miss the dance just to miss the bad times? Or have they made you stronger of a person?

I love that song soooooooo much..I told my kids to play that when they lay me to rest. There are soooo many things in my life that weren't easy, that hurt, that I shouldn't have did..but would I have missed them?..Hell no..I'd step right in there and dance that dance again...even that last dance..I'm sure, ain't gonna be all that bad...great post!

Thanks for wishing me Happy Birthday.
Aye I'm a Garth fan and yep like you I would never miss the dance to avoid the pain.

Would I miss the dance? Not a chance! In order to fully appreciate the good times you must first experience the bad times. That's just the way things work in this world. (Something about a dichotomy...)

Each experience - good or bad - is a building block. All these blocks (experiences) built a tower, and that's me. If you remove even one of those blocks then the entire tower falls, and I am no longer me. Well, I guess I'd still be me, just a different version of me. I kinda like the current version of me, so please don't remove any of my blocks!

Good song and great lyrics, btw.
