Valentine's Day

OK, help me out here...

Isn't today January 16?

I went to the pharmacy today to pick up some things and walked into a snowdrift of Valentine's Day crap: boxes of candy, cards, toys. From SpongeBob to Dora the Explorer to quasi-erotic messages.

So I ask the kid stacking the shelves why they decided to put the Valentine's stuff out so early. Looking at me like I had 3 peni, he says, "Sir, this stuff has been up since the day ater Christmas..."

The day after Christmas?! A full month and a half early?! What the fuck is that about?!

Is there really a need for us to start celebrating holidays 45 days early? Especially Valentine's Day? Did someone wake up on December 26 and say to themselves: "Shit, I really better get out there and buy my Valentine's Day cards before the rush starts. God Forbid I not be able to send a Valentine's Day card to my first grade teacher. Who's been dead for 15 years. But I should still send one anyway.

Am I the only one who thinks we've been going a little crazy on these holiday celebrations? And also on Valentine's Day as a whole?

OK, I'm done with my rant...

OK, I admit it: I'm a dumbass... I fully recogniae that today is in fact the 15th and not the 16th. But my point still stands...
