"Don't let me tell you your job"

My favorite conversation of the day.

I had to rebuild a window sill because the excivator hit it with his bucket during the dig. Now all that would be fine and well if he hadn't knocked the entire thing out of the wall and destroyed the wall studs.

So today I'm measuring everything out to see what I can do. The homeowner comes by and says, "You need to cut the wood this way, and rip it here, being sure to taper this end and straighten the window and ......... But you're the carpenter, don't let me tell you your job."

If they didn't want to tell me my job, why would they?

Besides that it's been a great day. All the projects are moving along nicely, the guys at work are howling at the idea of this website - I'm almost a little worried they might search it out and start reading my profile - that would be the last thing I need at work.

Time to go over the prints for tomorrow's work. We'll see what the weather brings for tomorrow.
