Work is Overated

Well I did not win the 250 million dollar Mega Millions this week - somebody in New Jersey had the only winning ticket. The fantasy of what I would do if I won was worth the 3 tickets I bought. Now I have to get back to Earth.Friday I was offered a job.The package is being worked out but I am going to take it.The company is small and the owner has been doing the sales and marketing job as well as trying to work on the business.I know I can help them.It is in my industry,I know the challanges they face and my number one competitor is the company I worked at for 20 years.I will be on the road 2 weeks out of the month. The territory is the entire country.I will be working with Sales agencies trying to get our products on customers shelves and installed on cars and trucks everywhere. What I like about it is the responsibility will be all mine.No more reporting to someone who reports to someone who reports to someone.I am looking forward to it with optimism after the last three jobs I had.And by the way - I will continue to buy lottery tickets, hoping my numbers are called because no matter how much you like your job - work is overated.

Amen to that. The only think I enjoy about my job is the socializing I do related to it...other's just the grind.

So,..."all over the country"? Does that include Seattle?
You know TomE - there are more dogs per capita in the NW than anywhere else in the country.....Woof!

I have to disagree about the 'work" thing tho'..If I was to win the Lottery - I would keep my job. In fact, there is someone I work with that did that just - won the lottery a few years back - he's still with us! Technically, I have 8 years left and then I can retire - but I'll probably "hang-on" 8 more years after that, not for $ reasons), but because I don't want to leave.....

Congraturations on the new job. I especially like the fact your territory will be the entire country so perhaps you'll have an opportunity to visit the desert southwest.

And I would love to meet you. I'd thoroughly enjoy meeting you for dinner, conversation and who knows what we may have for dessert. If you'd like, send me an email and I'll reply with an alternative method of contacting me.
