Music That Gets You Moving

I announced to the world( OK - I didnt really announce it to the world...I posted an entry in my Blog) that I am getting back in shape.Yesterday I thought about that line from Woody Allan ..."I havent been on my treadmill for weeks. 572 Weeks.Thats 11 years." Describes my abscence so you get an idea of what shape I am in or at least how out of shape I feel.

I cross train - one day the eliptical machine, the next day the rowing machine and the next day the stair stepper.I am starting off slowly, doing 25 minutes at a time for now.The stair stepper I use is located in a place I can not tune into the TVs so I looked to see if I had a tape in the Walkman(this old fart has not switched to the I Pod yet)and I was lucky. There was a tape and as luck would have it, it was rewound to start from the begining. It was Stevie Vaughan( that is right - before he was known as Stevie Ray) and the tape was "In the Beginning".

This viseral live performance was the tape his manager used to get him a record contract. It begins with an introduction by the announcer that this is being recorded live on April Fools Day in 1980 for radio from the Steamboat 1874 Club in Austin Texas - Stevie's adopted home. Then he says...Ladies and Gentlmen...Stevie Vaughan and Double Trouble(Chirs Layton and Jackie Newhouse... Tommy Shannon was added later). Immediately you are pulled into the raw energy and intensity that was Stevie Ray at the top of his game. His guitar reaches out of the headphones, grabs you by the throat and doesnt let go.He and the band rip through song after song...In the Open,Slide Thing,They Call Me Guitar Hurricane,All Your Love I Miss Missing and 5 others.I was dancing on the stepper. It gave me the motivation to rip through the session to thye point it didnt bother me.

I am a huge Stevie Ray fan and I highly recommend this CD, especially if you are looking for music that rocks you from the top of your head to the bottom of your soles. If this doesnt get you moving you better check your pulse!
