Its Not OK!!! Television is not all Bad

For fans of the television show Starved on FX you will recognize that response from the made up eating disorder support group from Hell. When I first heard about a comedy about eating disorders I thought - what the F were they thinking?I had to check it out and next to that other great FX show Rescue Me, this was the best show of the summer hands down. The story is both tragic and funny - similar to Rescue Me.It tells the story of four friends -Sam,Billie,Adam and Dan.Like Seinfeld these people have major flaws but you see they also have redeeming characteristics hidden under their problems. The ending episode was brilliant. The montage at the end to Warren Zevon's "Don't Let Us Get Sick" was perfect. The chorus goes:

Don't let us get sick
Don't let us get old
Don't let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight.

I will be so pissed if this isn't renewed.

Yet there is hope.Last night the show "My Name Is Earl" debuted on NBC.I have never laughed out loud so much at a network comedy in years.Highly recommended.

I haven't seen "Rescue Me", but I luuuuuuved Denis Leary's other show, "The Job".

The network just never promoted it properly and pretty much set it up for failure (in my humble opinion).

I hope Earl does well and stays around for awhile.

Hi...I noticed you liked Rescue Me....isn't that just about the most intense show you've ever watched? I haven't missed a single episode. Dennis Leary...is fantastic as Tommy...all of the characters are very believable. My heart just sank when Conner died, and Janet...slaps Tommy twice in the emergency room. The way they play music during the last 5 or 6 mins...and show's em all in sortof a slow motion...just incredible story writing. Have you ever watched "24" with Kiefer Sutherland? I would absolutely love a pal to talk about either of these 2 shows with...no one I know is into either of them. Another one I am hooked on is "Nip/Tuck".... I tell ya..TV has sure changed a lot....more down to earth and realistic. Good post Tom.
Thanks...Slide
