Too Late for Lent?

I decided to give up chocolate today.

Well, you know how it is. I’ve been eating very badly lately for one reason or another and even though my job keeps me very active I have started to put on a bit of weight.

And I don’t really want to.

So it’s bye-bye to chocolate.

Of course, I have to be sensible about this. I think it’s reasonable to make an exception for chocolate cakes, biscuits or chocolate desserts. Then, too, if anyone offers me chocolate it would be rude to refuse. And sometimes, too, it’s nice to be able to give someone chocolate or to share some special chocolates with a special someone. And edible chocolate body paint? Well, it would be cutting my nose off to spite my face if I refused that sort of an offer, wouldn’t it? Of course, I’ve always preferred to use real chocolate in that sort of game so I guess that would be a reason to eat chocolate too.

And it was certainly okay for me to have a bar of chocolate when I finally took a few minutes for a late lunch today and found that all the sandwiches had gone.

But apart from that, I’m giving up chocolate. Really.

"House of Chocolate?
Um... I'd like to cancel that delivery I ordered yesterday. Seems the person I was sending it to has given up chocolate.
Yeah, I know... unbelievable, eh?
Actually... tell you what... can you deliver to my address? Excellent... thanks!"

CuummDrop ... Chocolate-covered breasts? How sweet!

Helga ... I did say I'd always accept gifts! Or maybe you'd rather share them? After all, that's fewer calories per person

Tabitha ... I've found the secret of not eating too many crisps. I've managed to convince myself I only like the really expensive ones ... and that means when I'm in the shop trying to decide what to buy, they're too expensive! The only catch is it means I buy chocolate instead!

Susie ... Some things I can give up easily: prawns, Satan-worship, prawns, haemorrhoids, prawns, holidays in Blackpool ... oh and did I mention prawns?

Oh QG~
I gasped in horror at the words So it’s bye-bye to chocolate.
I thought for sure I would need to send emergency crews over to help you through this crisis. Thankfully after reading the rest of your post, I see that you are being quite reasonable about your addiction. So I am sitting back and wishing you luck in your endeavor to "quit" one of life's greatest joys.
(filled with relief)

You can learn to give up chocolate... it's addictive like other things... just stay clear for 2 weeks and you'll be over it... I know.. cos I did the same a few years ago...

Never touch the stuff now... or I would be addicted again....

Good luck,
Hugs E.
