If Allah were President.
If Allah were President.
I just went to an Opec website to see what could be done about oil prices.
It sure didn't take long ta figure that one out.
As I began to read the current events, trying to remember back to economics classes, to see what the bullish markets had to do with it, I read a little further, where it spoke of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
I wonder what kind of effect war has on oil prices.
What if wars were fought economically instead of murderously.
And what if istead of thinking in terms of War, which implies hatred,
These economic wars were viewed more like sports matches.
Sometimes ya win, and sometimes you lose.
But people don't die, and the economy generally grows for both sides.
Every country wants to feed their children. Why wouldn't they want to sign a global ceasefire?
At least until the anthem plays, for christ's frickin sake.
What's wrong with a little Harlem Globetrotters, while you eat your Special K?.

Economists will tell you there is a $20 - $25 premium added to every barrell of oil by the speculators that amounts to a "War Premium". But it's based on fear, not economics, or actual drilling and production costs. The oil companies don't get the premium, the stock market commodities speculators get it.|
War happens because there are people for whom physical domination is their goal. Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Bin Laden, Saddam, Hirohito, Ho Chi Minh, and their ilk couldn't care a whit about economics - except to the extent that it enriched them personally and fueled their war machines. They sought physical control of others' land and property, and the physical destruction of those they viewed as their enemies.
Wars end when people defeat those monsters' war machines on the battlefield. The fact that wars are messy and people die is what keeps rational civilizations from starting them... If war was less messy, there would be no incentive to avoid, or shorten, them...
To secure peace, you must FIRST defeat the enemy and force them to relinquish their goals.
The new battlefields of the future may well be economic... We "defeated" the Soviet Union in the cold war by bankrupting them and making it impossible for them to maintain their threats... the Chinese are using their new-found economic power to control political realities..
But the Bin Ladens will still be out there, needing to be physically defeated.
Unfortunately, the world is still ruled by the agressive use of force.
Pleasing women in unbelievable ways for 45 years...
You could be next...

I disagree with what you say about physical domination being the goal of those leaders you mentioned. I believe if you look deep enough into it, you will realize that the physical domination is not an end, but rather a means.|
Our political leaders are no different.

Peace propaganda needs to be done as intelligently as war propoganda has been.|
