How do you decide who is on your watched blog list ?

I have been surfing around and this subject has been coming up in other blogs.

I add and delete people all the time. I just did a clean up tonite.

I have males and females in my watch list. I comment in both male and female blogs too.

If I comment in your blog and if I notice a pattern of you not acknowledging any replies, you are off my list. I know there are other people that feel the same way as me.

I like blogs that sometimes have controversial topics.

I watch the CEOs blog because I like to be on top of things happening on the site.

I watch Rdys blog of e mails because once in a while I find it entertaining to read her stuff.

If you are a copycat of Rdy, I will probably cut you loose too. There is only room for one of these types. There are a few people that just post bad e mails and then call the men assholes and then they will get comments from many people saying that the guy is a bad guy and he will never get laid. That gets stale after a while. I am not talking about anyone specifically here.

I will also watch a blog because I find the person interesting for some reason. It does not mean I like them.

I would not be as strict on people who comment in my blog or if they are local (canadian) to me.

How do you decide who is on your list ?

I know there are some people that will only watch and comment in ladies blogs or blogs that are POPULAR or blogs within a certain clique.

I watch blogs that interest me in some way , may that be writing or funny (my favs!) . Some of the contriversal ones are good , some boring . I simply like variety .

I do cut people loose who don't respond to comments, if it seems that they have no intention of it at all.
I add people to my watch list when I develop some kind of repoire with them. I like different types of blogs, but if the interaction with the blogger isn't good, then I won't keep them on my list.

my closest friends are on my watched list...

if someone does anything hurtful to another member i care about they get dumped like yesterday's trash... or if i see posts in their blog that i find reprehensible and they allow them to stand unchallenged, i will reconsider then too...(hateful or racist come to mind)

mostly tho it is based on activity levels... a stagnant blog will get culled after a while...

i start watching blogs when the posts move me, make me laugh, make me think or just generally entertain . . . but sometimes, i'm overwhelmed by the sheer number of posts on a particular blog, and i can't keep up with reading and commenting, so then i stop watching that particular blog. no real rhyme or reason, just my mood at the moment

Hey Steve, I am still new to blogging and don't really understand what other people's rules may or may not be. Whenever anyone post on my blog I make it a habit of responding to their comment in some way. As far as other people's blog, I watch them if I find them interesting. If I have an opinion on one of their post then I leave it. I check out anyone's blog that even visits mine. That is how I found your blog. I think you were visiting my blog before I even posted anything. I have no idea how you came to check out mine but I am curious. I came here and saw all kinds of interesting things to comment on. I really don't care if it is a woman or man, just interesting. If I see someone leaving a comment on your blog or anyone else's blog, that is thought provoking, then I go to their blog to see if I can find more meaningful post. Depending on your outlook, it may or may not be a good thing to have me commenting on your blog because as you can see, I am both opinionated and very wordy at times. LOL. Sorry!

I only watch a few, and they are blogs where the writing is good, and where they post original thoughts - some questions, some prose. I also watch members that I 'like' to keep up with their new posts. If I visit a few times and it doesn't 'click' anymore, then I 'unwatch' them. I have no interest in 'blogland' topics or cut and paste, and don't have a taste for 'drama' - they have to be blogs that reflect an honest slice, or an interesting perspective. -v

I watch those blogs that intrigue me. Yes, I have friends I watch but they wouldn't be friends if they didn't intrigue/interest me LOL (yes, that's the way it works...I find all my friends interesting). I don't have a cookie cutter mold that someone has to fit into to grab my attention so that much of it is all individually driven. I have to admit I love a good descriptive writer. Someone who doesn't take life too seriously and can make me laugh.

My blog watch list has become so long I cannot read all the blogs. You are one of the people on my watch list. I enjoy reading different things. So people make me feel sad, others make me smile, some I feel have become my special friends and I cannot wait to go and read their blogs again!

Welcome to my blog.

If a popular blogger can respond to comments, than I feel before your new blog post, respond to your old ones.

I dont know some of them respond to 50 to 100 people with a thoughtful response.

My policy is all comments stay for everyone to see.

But it doesnt mean that they will be unchallenged.

I know there were a few racists making the rounds of the blogs last yr and if someone like them made a comment in here, they would be challenged by me and I am sure many other members.

Some of the more popular bloggers will attract pages and pages of comments.

Many times it is all "I agree with you" and a few other words.

I dont want to read that as a viewer.

The more popular you get, the more you are going to attract people that just want to put their one cent in your blog.

I have alot of funny blogs on my watch list. But then again, I have all different blogs on the watched list. If I happen to like it, I'll watch it for a while. There isnt any particular "favorites." But There is one (a female) that I noticed when I tried to be nice, and compassionate just for the sake of knowing what kind of predicament she was going through at certain times, I've left a couple nice comments in her blog and wouldnt ya know, she was VERY ungrateful about it. No thanks or nothing. Some people are just ignorant like that;doesnt matter how nice you are to that person. If they think their shit dont stink, they actually believe it. Boy, this individual that I'm referring to was totally convinced of it! lol Still looks like she is....but Ahhhh well! I have devised a pretty nifty way of reading blogs. I go to my own post, click on the number of replies I've made and then go down the list reading people I have already replied to because I have found what they wrote interesting enough to respond to at some point.

I read the CEO's as well for the same reason as you. There are a few blogs I read and don't reply to, not because I don't like the person but because they usually have so many replies already that it seems pointless. One of these is MzHunyhole. I love her writing, I think she's wonderful, but she usually has about 100 replies up already.

I don't base my blog viewing on who else views the blog. Everyone has the ability to ban in the blogs, so if I hated seeing a certain person, I would ban that person, not ignore someone else because that person has posted there.
I do that too.

I dont know if you realized it but you can watch individual blog posts too. They will be displayed on the left side of the blog home page. I do that for posts that I really am interested in.

I feel the same way as you about Ms huny and some of the other bloggers. She is welcome here anytime but I will not be one of 100 to 200 comments in a blog. Many of her responders are posting to advertise themselves. Some of them will be upfront about it and just post a link. I refuse to be a part of that kind of thing.

Thank you for your comments

I read a variety of blogs, but I prefer the intellectual ones that give me something to think about.

I'm not so fond of the mundane comment-whore types and I don't like many of the popular bloggers.

If a blogger doesn't respond to comments I will stop visiting their blog.

If I lose interest I will stop visiting their blog.

If they are always embroiled in drama I will stop visiting their blog.

When I first started reading the blogs 6 weeks ago I started with the people on "the list" because they were right in front of me. From there I clicked on links in posts to other blogs and to posts that the bloggers I read were commenting on. My watched list started out as the ones I found that either touched me or entertained me. I read a lot but comment little unless a post really moves me, I feel I have something meaningful to contribute that wasn't stated by someone else, or the blog is written in such a way that a shy stranger feels comfortable voicing an opinion.

Since starting my own blog I've added the blogs of those whose comments on mine touched me in some way even if I didn't particularly like their style of blog just to make sure I don't miss a post I *might* like. Being new I have few viewers and fewer comments so I reply to them all, even if it's just a "thanks for stopping in" but probably couldn't continue that if I started getting a large number of comments. I also visit the blog of every person that comes to mine, but I'm still to shy to change the conditions under which I comment.

I started watching a select few blogs because I liked what the blogger had to say, then I would go thru their list of commenters and if someone made an interesting comment and had a blog, I would check them out. Depending on who recommends them, I follow links to new bloggers as well.

I have quite a large list of actively watched blogs but I regular watch a small percentage of them.

I watch a variety of blogs but I prefer blogs that are well-written and stimulate some thought... whether that be through a bit of controversy, some poetic thoughts or just random writings. Similar to what you've mentioned though I am a little more lenient when it comes to local blogs because I like to find out what people in my area have to say.

I also like to have my comments acknowledged when I visit a blog. Though I realize I sometimes don't reply to comments in my own blog as timely as I should so I try not to be too critical of that. If I don't feel I have anything valuable to say I tend to not say anything but am working on at least acknowledging each comment.

I do tend to avoid the more popular blogs as it's too easy to get lost among the masses there.

Seems like I'm always editing my watch list though... adding new blogs that I run across because they seem interesting, and deleting others as I become disinterested. I suppose that's the typical cycle in blogging.

    ~myst~
Thank you for your comments.

I try to reply to everybody too, but not right away sometimes.
