Happy Mothers day Mom !!!!!!!!!

My mother was born in rural quebec during the depression. She was one of 12 kids and she only went to school until she was 12 yrs old. She had abusive parents (my grandparents). She cannot even talk about it without crying nowadays.

Alcoholism and drug abuse was a big problem in her family. Many of them were heavy smokers as well. It took the lives of a few of them. They died in car accidents and suicides. I know of one who blew his head off but he was terminally ill.

My mother married my father just before 1960. I was born in 1967. Over the yrs I observed my father mentally abusing my mother. My mother got into drugs and alcohol so she could cope. She separated in 1985 and went on her own. She eventually divorced him. She never remarried again.

When I got older I found out some disturbing things.

My mother tells me that he her a few times during her marriage to him.

After she separated from him, he tried to set it up so a car she was travelling in would have an accident.

For the next several yrs, he would be the most miserable prick to my mother and to everybody around him. He is still alive today.

My mother is still living and if I could, I wish I could make it up to her. No material things can erase this from her memory.

I decided the best way to make it up to my mother was not to be like my father.

"I decided the best way to make it up to my mother was not to be like my father." that is definitely one way.

my dad was a real s.o.b. til the day he died. when he was married to my mom, he was a prick as well. the sad thing is, my brother who does his best not to be like him, is in fact a lot like him in some ways. my mom survived and has always done the parenting of both. i love her with all my heart and soul.
