WINE POST - The Days of Wine and Roses

Just got home from dinner at a little Grecian restaurant, Dino's. Started the evening out with a Bud Light draft. Graduated to Merlot (can't remember the brand, but it was a Napa Valley product). Then, I moved on to a Pinot Noir (again, nothing exotic just something from Napa Valley). Then back to the Merlot. And another Merlot. And now, I'm nice and toasty.

Days of Wine and Roses
Artist: Andy Williams
Music by Henry Mancini and Words by Johnny Mercer
title song from the movie starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick

The days of wine and roses laugh and run away like a child at play
Through a meadow land toward a closing door
A door marked "nevermore" that wasn't there before

The lonely night discloses just a passing breeze filled with memories
Of the golden smile that introduced me to
The days of wine and roses and you

(The lonely night discloses) just a passing breeze filled with memories
Of the golden smile that introduced me to
The days of wine and roses and you-oo-oo

Andy Williams' version of 'The Days of Wine and Roses' is great wine drinkin', reminiscing music. Unfortunately, no lady to share the evening with! Damn! Damn!

Dang. I watched that movie just a few weeks ago. The song is sad, but lovely. Sorry you don't have a lady to share the evening with - wishing I was there with you...

Whispersoftly5 - Andy Williams has a silver throat, and he's still going strong over at the Andy Williams Theatre in Branson, MO. I think he's in his 80's now! Would have been nice to have had the pleasure of your company last night!

tillerbabe - Dang Tiller, you know I don't understand that Pablo Poetry! Maybe, if Andy Williams would sing the words, I could dig it!

saddletrampsk - Way too familiar with Canadian beer from time spent in Belleville, Ontario many moons ago, but I must admit that I've not heard of 'Stompin' Tom' music! Would love to come up and broaden my exposure to music ... and ping pong in the Canadian fashion!
