The Dream Giver

This poem is inspired by a book I read about a year ago called 'The Dream Giver' by Bruce Wilkinson. Bruce Wilkinson is also the author of another book, 'The Prayer of Jabez', which may have gained even more popularity. In the 'The Dream Giver', Bruce Wilkinson examines where our dreams and aspirations come from and in an entertaining parable, story-telling style, he identifies all of the typical obstacles people wrestle with when they set out to achieve their Dreams. I would really recommend the book to all of you 'Dreamers' out there. It will give you some additional insight about where Dreams come from, why you should GO FOR IT and pursue your Dreams and how you can identify and overcome the various obstacles to achieving your Dreams when they inevitably appear before you! What kind of good books have you read on the subjects of 'Dreams',
'Dreaming', 'Dream Building' and 'Dream Achievement'?

Where do dreams come from?
Just how do they come about?
And when ya' reach for yours,
Have ya' ever had any doubt?

Listen, have ya' ever been told
Not to be gettin' your hopes up?
Friend, have ya' ever thought
About just completely givin' up?

The Dream Giver knows better.
The Dream Giver won't let you.
He speaks, says ya' gotta dream!
Ya' gotta cause it MAY come true!

Have others said it won't work,
Perhaps told ya' to just forget it?
Predicting you'd never succeed,
Advising to just give up and quit?

Ever wondered why you started
Down that road t'ward your Dream?
Have ya' felt lonely on the journey
While others abandoned your team?

The Dream Giver will never quit.
The Dream Giver won't leave you.
He speaks, says ya' gotta dream!
Ya' gotta cause it CAN come true!

Have ya' ever experienced problems,
Had to change your plan along the way?
Have ya' ever gotten discouraged
And felt like cryin' most every day?

Have you ever looked back
When your Dream was in sight?
And wondered who helped ya' make it
When you were filled with fright?

The Dream Giver will never fail.
The Dream Giver won't leave you.
He speaks, says ya' gotta dream!
Ya' gotta cause it WILL come true!

TB - Just believe in yourself and believe that the best is yet to come. You will attract what you project. Just believe, sweetie!

You know this poem is about everything I believe in life.

Dreams come true. Fight for them.
Dan'l ... Yes, I've learned that about you! You're a Dreamer! Dreamers change the world. If you'll recall the story about Joseph in the Bible, you know that Joseph was a Dreamer. He held to his dream, kept his faith thru all of his struggles, even when sold into slavery to the Egyptians by his own brothers. Hold to your dream,
Dan'l!

Beautiful... Dreams are so important... the ones at night and the ones that represent our hopes and desires. Thanks for the poem.
My dreams at night are wet!

Hi, Mag! I dream a lot and act upon my dreams too little. I dreamt about you the night of the NCAA championship game! I dreamt you were dressed in a Bruin cheerleaders outfit and that you ran out on the floor after UCLA got beat by the Baby Gators and beat the hell out of the Gator mascot!

I can relate to the "constantly sifting through shifting dreams" comment. Maybe your dream has remained essentially the same, perhaps refined, whereas your plans or tactics for getting there have had to be revised due to changing circumstances in your life.

Keep your Dream broad as in a Vision or Destination of where you desire to go.

If you have to change your route to get there along the way due to road reconstruction, taking an exit to refuel or check out an interesting side trip, circumstances changing in your life, etc. that's to be expected. Be flexible but keep in mind your eventual Destination, your Dream or Vision.

Thanks for stopping by, OhSo!
