Eric Clapton isn't GOD, but he's close...

I know I've been on a lyric kick recently, but I've always got music on the brain...being a singer and all... The fact is, that music is an integral part of our society. And how we connect with it expresses our own individuality and experiences. When multitudes of people connect with a song, it becomes a hit.

Eric Clapton is one of my favorite music artists. And of all of them, I'd have to say that he is a man after my own heart. For those of you that don't know, Eric fell madly in love with one of his best friend's wives...George Harrison's wife, Patty. For years he was tormented by the fact that he could not have her, or her heart, because it and she belonged to another...a man that he considered his brother.

Now for those of you that have found yourself in a similar situation... a forbidden love affair, or wanting someone who belongs to someone else, you'll appreciate the words to this song that Eric put on his Journeyman album, and other albums, that talks about the forbidden love he had for Patty and how he struggled with it emotionally...

OLD LOVE
Eric Clapton - Journeyman

I can feel your body
As I'm lyin' in my bed
There's too much confusion
Rollin' 'round in my head
And it's makin' me so angry
To know that the flame still burns
When will I get over it?
When will I ever learn?

Old love,
Leave me alone
Old love,
Just go on home

I can see your face, yeah,
But I know that it's not real
It's just an illusion
Caused by how I used to feel
And it's makin' me so angry
To know that the flame will always burn,
Flame will always burn
I ain't never gonna get over it
No, I'll never, never learn...

Old love,
Leave me alone
Old love, old love
Just go on home, go on home

Old love,
Leave me alone
Old love, old love
Just go on home, go on home
Old love
Oooooooh, old love
Old love
Old love
