Congrats to Buck O'Neill, Negro League Legend, for becoming the oldest player, at 94 years young, to bat in a professional baseball game.
Is it a marketing ploy? Sure.
But this is a man who was on the cutting edge of the racial divide of major league baseball. He was the first black coach in the MLB, a two-time Negro League batting champ, and champion and gentleman in the purest sense of the word.
What he has done for Kansas City and the memory of the Negro League is beyond compare and for him to have been excluded from the Hall of Fame is an atrocity!
If the people of Kansas City honor him via this little marketing ploy during a baseball game, I say it's the least we can do to show our respect for a great ball player and a great human being.
All respect to you Buck!
