EVERYTHING YOU WILL EVER NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SWEDES!

Sweden is a country waaaaay up in the north. During the winters, we all live in igloos, hunt polar bears, drink Absolut Vodka and have wild sex every day... If we didn't we would of course freeze to death. Thereby SEX is necessary for our survival, not only to multiply, but to stay warm!

Sometimes when we get bored, we pack ourselves and our families into our Viking longboats and sail around plundering our neighboring countries, such as Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

During the summer, Sweden turns into a land of debauchery, sin and lust. People wear as little clothes as possible, to celebrate the sun.

The water is extremely clean, and if the city has a beach or a river running trough it, you can see beautiful girls skinny dipping all over the place. After the cooling dip, they all stroll nude to the nearest cafee for a "fika" (a Swedish word for coffee-break.)

Nude people can in fact be seen everywhere: in schools and offices, in stores and malls, in coffee shops and walking the streets.

People having sex in parks, on the beaches or on benches around the cities is a very common sight.

Swedish men are all of course muscular, masculine Viking Gods, and ALL Swedish women are tall, blond, blue eyed, world wide known as the best and most beautiful women anywhere!

Since Sweden is a welfare country, we don't have to work, unless we feel like it. Mean, money grabbing people have been outlawed.

We are so very well known around the world, simply because we DO know what we are doing, due to all our diligent practice.

FACTS and these ARE true:

Something not so well known about Swedes, but you still should know:

They are some of the most mulish, not to be moved, stubborn people in the world!

They very seldom tell you exactly what they are thinking, and are non confrontational to a fault.

They DO have a temper, surprise! Sure it will take some time before it surfaces, but once it does, RUN and RUN FAST!!!

Of course everybody DOES know that Swedish women are not only some of the most liberated, but also the most independent and have achieved almost total equality (48% ratio in the parliament). In other words, they won't put up with any CRAP, and neither will I!

The Balls have it, the Swedish ones that is! Jul 8, 2008 1:33 pm

Per bazillion requests, and because I once upon a time promised.

Please eat responsibly..... If you are on a diet, don't even READ this recipe, it will put 5lbs on you instantaneously!

MY SECRET recipe for REAL Swedish Meatballs:
(Everybody in Sweden have a secret recipe, that's what makes em' special)

You get the measurements in metric. If you don't know how to turn it into any other stupid system, just go and buy yourself some cheap metric measuring cups for cripes sake!

    KÖTTBULLAR

Recipe should feed 8 unless you are little piggies that is. I always make extra, cause well see the bottom of this post.

  • 500 grams of lean ground beef
  • 500 grams of lean ground pork
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 1 dl plain bread crumbs
  • 4 medium sized cold boiled potatoes
  • 2 dl heavy cream
  • 2 dl dark ale, such as Guinness
  • salt to taste
  • allspice to taste
  • white (ground) pepper if a more peppery taste is wanted
  • 4 tbs of Real butter

Soak the bread crumbs in the cream - Mash the potatoes with a fork, and mix it into the cream/crumb mix - Add the eggs - Mince the onion VERY fine and add it to the mix - Add the ale - Add the spices...... (If you want a more even texture a la IKEA meatballs mix it all in a food processor)

Work it all together (if to thick add some more ale, if to loose add some more bread crumbs). Roll meatballs with your hands, a table spoon of the mix will make a good size.....

Melt the butter in a large frying pan, and fry the buggers on fairly high heat, but not max. Shake the frying pan so that the balls get evenly covered with butter, and then lower the heat to medium.... When nicely browned put them on a plate or bowl or Whatever!

Now for the sauce, there HAS to be sauce!

    GRÄDD SÅS

  • 2 tbs white flour
  • 1 dl water
  • 4 dl heavy cream
  • 2 beef bullion squares
  • Soy sauce
  • white pepper

Dissolve the bouillon cubes in 1 dl of simmering water. Then when all the balls are properly fried take the frying pan containing the butter and meatball leftover stuff of the heat - Powder the flour over it - Stir so that the flour soaks up all the grease - Return the pan to low heat, and whisk the bullion into the flour/grease mix - Add the cream while stirring - Raise the heat and bring to a boil while continuously stirring - Add soy sauce and white pepper to taste

    Serve these ABSOLUTELY-NON-DIET Balls with:

Freshly Boiled Potatoes with some fresh parsley cut and sprinkled on top.... DON'T FORGET THE LINGONBERRY PRESERVES, without it they are just Meatball, the Swedish is gone..... (If you absolutely have to you can substitute the Lingonberry with Cranberry Sauce) I also like to serve some sweet thinly sliced pickles with it. Drizzle plenty of sauce over the potatoes and, EAT TIL YOU CAN'T TAKE IT NO MORE!!!

***Left over meatballs are totally yummy to slice (cold) and use in a sandwich...

***Left over potatoes - Dice with some onions, fry and serve with eggs and beacon for breakfast...

I hope these measurements will work out OK for you, since I NEVER measure anything when I cook, I just kinda know how it should be.

I also make some totally yummy Fish Balls, yup fish balls, with a Curry Sauce if anyone is interested. Trust me they are Friggin awesome.

    Happy Mid-Summer Solstice....... Jun 19, 2008 8:05 pm
    Mood: MidSummerilicious, 2978 Views

Yeah, yeah..... I know it's a repost, duh I made it!

Us Swedes celebrate Midsummer tomorrow (Friday the 20th) in Sweden, so I was in a hurry OK....

Next year something funny I promise! For now, EDUCATIONAL, hehehe!

Excerpt from Wikipedia: (What did we do before had them?)

    Sweden
In modern Sweden, Midsummer's Eve and Midsummer's Day (Midsommarafton and Midsommardagen) are celebrated from the eve of the Friday between June 19 - 25. It is arguably the most important holiday of the year, and one of the most uniquely Swedish in the way it is celebrated, even if it has been influenced by other countries long ago. The main celebrations take place on the Friday, and the traditional events include raising and dancing around a huge maypole. One typical dance is the frog dance. Before the maypole is raised, greens and flowers are collected and used to cover the entire pole.

Raising and dancing around a maypole (majstången or midsommarstången) is an activity that attracts families and many others. People dancing around the pole listen to traditional music and many wear traditional folk costumes. The year's first potatoes, pickled herring, sour cream, and possibly the first strawberries of the season are on the menu. Drinking songs are also important at this feast, and many drink heavily.

Midsummer Dance by Anders Zorn, 1897Because Midsummer is one of the times of the year when magic is believed to be the strongest[citation needed], it was a good night to perform rituals to look into the future. Traditionally, young people pick bouquets of seven or nine different flowers and put them under their pillow in the hope of dreaming about their future spouse. In the past it was believed that herbs picked at Midsummer were highly potent, and water from springs could bring good health. Greenery placed over houses and barns were supposed to bring good fortune and health to people and livestock; this old tradition of decorating with greens continues, even though most don't take it seriously. To decorate with greens was called att maja (to "may") and may be the origin of the word majstång, maja coming originally from the month May Other researchers say the term came from German merchants who raised the maypole in June because the Swedish climate made it impossible to find the necessary greens and flowers in May, and continued to call it a maypole. Today, however, it is most commonly called a midsommarstång. In earlier times, small spires wrapped in greens were erected; this probably predates the maypole tradition, which is believed by many to have come from the continent in the Middle Ages. Others argue that some form of Midsummer pole occurred in Sweden during the pre-Christian times, and was a phallic fertility symbol, meant to impregnate the earth, but as there were no records from those times it cannot be proven, and this idea might just be a modern interpretation of the poles form. The earliest historical mention of the maypole in Sweden is from the Middle Ages. Midsummer was however linked to an ancient fertility festival which was adapted into St. Johans day by the church, even though it retained many pagan traditions, as the Swedes were slow to give up the old heathen customs. The connection to fertility is naturally linked to the time of year. Many young people became passionate at Midummer, and this was accepted, probably because it resulted in more childbirths in March which was a good time for children to be born.

Midsummer is one of the only truly pagan holidays that are still celebrated in Europe (if not the only). In Denmark and Norway it is referred to as the eve of St. Hans but it's only in Sweden that it has kept its original name.

To many Swedes this holiday is seen as a holiday of partying, and as the start of the summer. The cities become almost deserted as most people travel to the country, often to their summer cottages, to celebrate.

Midsummer rivals Christmas as the most important holiday of the year in Sweden.

What is Sweden, Swedes and Swedish? Jun 18, 2008 1:22 pm

Starting my Swedish 101 posts, I first want to know: What do YOU know about Sweden, Swedes and Swedish stuff?

Tell me..... I wanna hear it all misconceptions, tales, truths, facts etc......

    Let's get some laughs here!

Don't worry, you can't offend me....

To show you that I won't take any offense, and that we can laugh at ourselves, here's an ad in writing (since we don't have the luxury of Flash Player on this site), that was shown on Swedish TV. It was a commercial for a lottery called Viking Lotto. It poked fun at Swedes inability to show emotions, and it showed the different reactions of winners from Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden....

If the Norwegians win you find them kitted out in bright jumpers and are out on cross-country skis, singing loudly and happily. The Danes are out at a restaurant, celebrating lustily with food and drink, while the Finns are raucously shouting and chasing each other around a sauna with birch twigs. Meanwhile, the Swede who wins is sitting on the couch in his living room, surrounded by his family. As the winning numbers come on the television, he says in a moderately pleased voice, "Well, it looks like I won." His wife says, "Well done" and smiles to herself, and the family settles back to watching television.

I can soooooooo totally see this happening. It's not that we are cold, but emotions are to be saved for when needed.... Just don't try to get in a Swedes face, that's when they come out in full force!

She's a sneaky lil' blonde angel,
But she can't sneak up on me.
I can hear her comin' when she
Flaps her wings on my balcony.

Well, she visits me quite often,
And we've become really good friends.
I've quit tellin' all my blonde jokes,

It's nice to have a blonde angel
Come to visit now and again.
'Just wish she'd stay a bit longer,
And weren't averse to a lil' sin!

Do sweet lil' angels ever turn
    Into devilish lil' vixens?
    Are lil' angels always perfect,
Or do they enjoy a few sins?

    Oh yeah!
She's a sneaky lil' blonde angel,
But she can't sneak up on me!
