Chop Sticks

How many of you out there can eat with chop-sticks? Every time I use them, I just have to think to myself, how did this happen? Who was that first person the decided eating rice with a stick was a good idea? Didn’t someone tell them about the spoon? Was there a king, or something that decided that the spoon was too easy to use, too western?
“I decree that we will eat rice with a stick.”
“But they use spoons to the west.”
“Bah, we need our own culture. We will use a stick!”
“But it is difficult to eat rice with a stick. The rice just falls off.”
“Then use two sticks idiot. Just because I said we will use a stick, did not mean you couldn’t use two sticks.”

Oh, I know how to eat rice with chop-sticks. I have been using them for almost 20 years. But I still think about who was the first person that said, "Hey, I'm wanna eat rice with a stick!"

I can't use them for the life of me either, and rarely eat Asian food or go out, but I will keep on trying...then again, I see how some non-Italians seem to have difficulty in mastering the use of the fork and spoon for twirling spaghetti or macaroni and laugh to myself quietly about that...

Haha, I never thought to use a spoon with a fork to eat spaghetti until I saw it on TV. Then I was thinking what a great idea.

I love asian food, and can eat with chop-sticks, but I still have to think who was the first to use them, and why?

If the mood of my post is silly, it is just that. Haha. I never really expect any serious conversation, just joking around mostly.

Well, I would have to say the first person to use them had no other choice. After a while, I think the Asians just wanted to show

The Thai wrap their food in leaves then eat it. I think that is a better way.

Everyone likes having a new goal. I guess yours is to break the chop sticks before they break you.
