Same Ole Same

Alright, let me just say up front that I know this is going to be unpopular. I am sure I won’t make any friends from this post. On the contrary, I’ll probably piss some people off. That isn’t my intention, but the chips will fall where they may. I have written and deleted this post for months, but I figure that if I think it, I’m probably not the only one.

How much poetry can you seriously write about fucking? There are only so many words that rhyme with “fuck”, “tongue”, and “grasp”.

I cruise blogs from time to time and it always amazes me to see blogs that consist entirely of poetry about fucking. One poem after another, day after day after day. Purely my opinion, but after reading them, they all start to sound alike. So you wrote about fucking and you made it rhyme. Uh huh. So you did it 127 times. Well guess what? They’re the damn same. There are only so many rhymes you can make with the same words.

Some of them are beautiful. I have come across some really good poetry. But in general, they are the ones that don’t have forced rhymes, and are more about sensuality, focusing on something instead of describing the act. The ones that touch me are the ones that show the author’s feelings, their deepest heart, where their soul entwines with their passion.

The immediate response is, “But Sunney, my poetry is my deepest heart!” Right. And so that’s all you think about? And your every thought just happens to rhyme? And your passion boils and your fingers grasp every single day? Come on… Tell me something real. Level with me. Don’t hide behind forced rhymes that have been used over and over, just talk.

Again, these are only my opinions. I’m sure I’ll take a walloping from people who have basically poetic blogs about the why’s of that, how it is an outlet, how they prefer to express themselves, and whatnot.

When you describe your passion to me
It is the same in almost every poem I see.
I read about your toe-curling lust,
your turgid shaft, your heaving bust.
I keep going and you mention fear
that disappears when the other is near.
See how these rhymes are the same at the core?
Doesn’t that leave you wishing for more?

We all do what we do. Everyone is unique and that’s what keeps things interesting. One of my “unique” things is that I tend to say what I think, even when it isn’t popular. So there it is. Now, if only I had some lovely picture to post alongside this entry, someone might tell me it’s beautiful.

Well not everyone can have a blog that covers as many topics as you. I have read some bad ones and then I read some good ones (Mine sucks however). Then I come to the best one, yours.

Keep it up girl.

Question without answer....

You ask of blog poets.. how much is enough?

How much music should be composed..

How many books written...

How many films should be shown?

What is the limit of human creativity?

Namaste

SWM - While that is sweet of you to say, I think it is hard to say that a blog is better or the best. When viewed in the light of someone's innermost thoughts, meanderings and feelings (which is how I use mine at least, and some others use theirs) then it seems superfluous to rate such a thing. If it were an erotic fiction contest, a poetry contest, or something like that... well, okay. But I appreciate the sentiment.

Songbird - Gawd you're a hoot, and so cute.

anacortes - I do not ask how much poetry should be written. I love poetry. I also love music. I love to sing. I do, however, realize that I will not be singing in front of a paying audience any time soon. So this is a creative outlet, great. Some of it is great, but my issue is when it is all the same. "Amazing Grace" may be the greatest song in the world, but no one wants to hear it every single day over and over.

Amen, girlfriend! There are twenty-four hours in a day. Surely there must be somethin' else to , (excuse me), showcase your lyracism skills about. Holla!

Does it matter? Does it really matter how many different ways someone writes about fucking? Does it matter if it is a poem, or an erotic story or shit thrown together? Creativity is what you and I as individuals make out of it. It doesn't matter that it is similar, or sounds the same, or has the same rhymes in a different order. Each person writes about things a certain way. Maybe they can't express themselves, maybe they can but choose this form. When it is all said and done...* (look below)

A blog is yours. It is your thoughts, your feelings, what you want to put...and it does not matter what anyone thinks about it...

* (Why ask this question in the first place?)
How much poetry can you seriously write about fucking?
I hope one for every day I am alive.

This coming from someone who writes a poem every day, sometimes more, and posts them here.

Oh and BTW *BIG KISS* I'm not pissy in any way.....

And since you opened up this can of worms....

I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts about my blog. I always wondered why you never really posted there...

Goldmember - It wasn't meant as a reprove, just some venting really.

goldin - Thank you.

bigchok - I'm holla-ing.

Poetman - I agree that a blog is yours and does not matter what anyone else thinks about it. Hence my venting. I know you aren't pissy; you're far too mature to have gotten that way over one person's opinion. As for your blog, some of your poems I like. The ones that are "different" in my eyes. I don't comment because I am not the most tactful of people, and as I know more than what is on the blog I wouldn't want to comment based on what I know as opposed to what is there. Does that make sense? At any rate, yeah, I think a lot come off as sounding the same... the one... passion rising... her touch (these aren't titles, but overwhelmingly common phrases or themes). I know you are such a complex person, but you're also very private. Maybe part of my frustration is that I know you have SO much more you could share, if you wanted, and in peeling away that exterior... you might be surprised at how many would identify even more than with just a poem. As always, just my opinion.

Sunney...like you I'm not usually a tactful person, so let's see if I can make a post w/o pissing off people too. I'm not really one for poetry. Why hide words, just say what you mean. Perhaps I'm just not sophisticated enough to hear the message.

I recently have been listening to a lot of music again. However, I usually do not listen to the words. It is a combination of not being able to understand what they are saying and sometimes it is because I don't understand the meaning of what they say. But ever now an then, some of the lyrics will stand out...like these:
VENDETTA RED
"Silhouette Serenade"

The last thing I wanna do right now
is read your stupid poetry.
Why can't you just tell me what you really wanna say?
You'd clear your conscience
with words so weak and empty,
but something in your eyes gave you away.

I think this is pretty funny, but does sum up how I feel about the subject. I have listened to this album a few times, but never picked up on the words just until the other day. Then I read your blog regarding the poetry, couldn't help myself from posting a response. Hope you don't mind me using your blog as my venting outlet as well.

fsuliber - I definitely don't mind. I've never heard that song, but I'm going to look it up now, mostly because it sounds different.
