In this small town life I have adopted, attending church is a must. In the South, especially in small towns in the South, church services are not only about God, but also a social experience. It is a chance to catch up on the latest happenings, to coo over new babies, to arrange who will carry food to someone in need.

Sure, there are places where the fire and brimstone abound. Then there are others where they don't tell you what to believe in quite such a forceful or threatening fashion. I'm an intelligent woman. I can read. I can make decisions for myself through logic, research, deductive reasoning and instinct. I know what I believe.

As time goes by, I have gone past fundamental learning and knowledge and have relied more upon faith. God speaks in mysterious ways, to each of us, in different ways. I fully believe that God is capable of that, in whatever way speaks to us individually in our hearts.

I'm working late tonight, as per usual lately. I can hear the deep chimes of the clock tower on the hour when the wind is right. It is, tonight. The clock chimes seven times, deep and powerful, resonant, and it calls me to look out the window to where it is silhouetted against a beautiful sunset. The sky is a deepening indigo with clouds skidding across ringed in iridescent yellows and oranges. The clock tower itself is highlighted in red almost. My desktop radio is playing softly in the background, and this is what I hear:

I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive.
- Live "Heaven"

Thanks for sharing..

When will you "sin"??

Or have you "sinned" already?

Oh my... what would you do then?

le sigh...

That certainly does sound heavenly. Had a long drive tonight, but I finally got home at about 1:30, and I see this post and it makes me smile more than you probably realize. Thanks, hon.

Anacortes - When I decide to confess my sins, I will. I sin every day, as does everyone. That doesn't mean I don't have a clear idea of God and Heaven.

Here - Glad you made it home safely. Long drives happen when you don't leave bars til almost midnight.
