To expand upon my last post re:had a rough day...

Yeah, this week has been a little challenging. Not as tough as some of yours, I know, but still... Sales is a tough gig. No matter how good your product is, there is always a lot of resistance from some folks. It takes a lot of persistance and perserverence, and being able to come up with exactly the right thing to say at exactly the right time.

I can do alright with words, and I can be very understanding once I've found a prospect who has a need that my solution can fill. As far as the persistance is concerned, though, I come from a line of people who are highly inobtrusive folks. It is SO against the grain for me to bug someone with a sales call, even though I'm convinced that I have something really good to offer them.

In a sense, I think that my foray into the world of Sales has been a growing experience for me - if I didn't HAVE to go out and assert myself, I'd probably rarely talk to anyone outside of my family and a few friends. It's been good, in that way. I think, though, in all honesty, when I retire at age 95 or whatever the going standard is, it won't be as a Salesman. At some point, I need to find my way into a new career. I'm good at a few things: 1) several people have told me that I write pretty well, 2) I understand technical stuff, and 3) I play (on occasion) a mean saxophone. OK, 4)a few people have said that the mugshot I have as my main photo is pretty handsome...do you think I can make a career out of it? - hehehe!

What's my career path? Where shall I go from here?

Find something you are truly interested in and then go from there. How about taking some courses at a local college to brush up on the thing you are interested in? Many people go back to school in their 30's and 40's. I hope all is well...I have missed seeing you here in blogland. Hugs, Jazz

For happiness involving a job I have found that focusing on a job that is challenging and never boring as well as a job I can be passionate about. Luckily I have found both.

They talk like I think
