Illegal Aliens...Amnesty or Expulsion??

I thought i would do this one since all i hear is about how the government is or isnt doing the "people's" bidding. So i figure no better cross section of people to ask than here. Given the impossibilty of finding 12 Million illegal aliens and kicking them out, let alone the cost of it, not to mention the affect that will have on our economy, would you prefer the government give them all amnesty and at least start collecting taxes from illegals if not a fine, or would you have the government spend millions of dollars finding these 12 millions and kicking them out and if the did would it stop them from coming back?? Here are your options..i will be forwarding them to you to HisLameness George W...lol Comments as always are welcome.
Give amnesty to all illegals and help our economy with the new income tax generated
Give amnesty to all illegals, fine them and get more income tax for economy
Give amnesty to all illegals, fine them, get more tax money and use the money to build a wall closing our border
Amnesty to those who have been here a certain time and kick the rest out
Amnesty to those here a certain time, fine them and kick out the rest
Amnesty to those here a certain time, fine them and use the money to kick out the rest and build a wall closing the border
Agree to let all illegals stay without ever getting citizenship and its benefits as long as they pay taxes...lol
Find all illegals and kick them all out no matter what the cost
Find all illegals and kick them out using rewards in the form of taxes breaks to the companies that turn them in..lol
Find all illegals and kick them out using criminal punishment for companies hiring them

i say do what the law says to do. afterall, we are suppose to be a nation of laws. if theyre not going to do that, fine and jail the employers that hire them illegally and then, when they cant get a job, they will leave on their own or they will do what most of everybody else does to get their citizenship; get in line !

This is an expensive war. We will never get the illegals out of
here and part of what has made this country great is people who
have come in and brought their willingness to work with them.

The laws the way they are encourage people to be paid under the table and the taxes are then avoided. This is a tough one.

The ones who are not working, however, are another story and this
is a difficult story when all sides of truth are considered. All
I know for sure is that I'm happy I am not the president.

I do believe that if I moved to another country for any reason; however, I would learn their language.

Just a little food for thought.............
If you really want to be happy, nobody can stop you...

The wall still works for China! It worked in Berlin! The Iron Curtain worked! Are we keeping them out or are they keeping us in? Think about it. That's what's so great about BLOGVILLE, no walls.

I have heard social workers tell them to have babies here, and they won't be deported - AND they can get welfare, food stamps, and medical care. I work in the public, and I'll be damned if I am going to learn a foreign language because they can run or swim. If I move to another country, I will learn the language FIRST!!!! They are already a financial drain. Go into Texas death row and see how many Mexican Nationals are there, it's a hobby of ours. By the way, DAMN DUDE, YOU LOOK GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry it's so long, but you hit a nerve)

(stepping on soap box)

Here is the deal. I live on one of the Border States and I cannot tell you how much of the infrastructure has been eaten up by illegals.

The crap that Americans would not work for the jobs these people take is just bull. I wanted to learn how a large bakery runs so tried to get a job, now mind you I wanted to make min wage (even with my skills I thought it was only fair) and after trying 4 times someone took me off to the side to tell me that the problem was that I did not speak Spanish. Here in LA that is the problem, not that people don't want to work the jobs but that all of the supervisors are Mexican and only speak Spanish and will only hire Spanish speakers.
And for those of you that think blanket amnesty then think on this: It has already been projected that the retiring baby boomers are going to put a huge strain on the Social Security system, remember that these people put money into the system over 30 years. So how is the system going to handle an extra 2+ million that have not paid or barely paid into the system? When retirement happens; who get's and who does not?

In the end there are people that died trying to get into this country legally, people that wanted to be law abiding American's (which they don’t want to be). Not picking on Mexicans but they are the only ones out in the streets.

Giving blanket amnesty is a bit like banging the bridesmaid / groomsman in the closet just after you got married.

And it so begs the question. Why can't they just follow the rules?

I'm split on this for reasons i will discuss later...i agree our country's income could definately use the tax boost and that it would be impossible logistically and financially to kick all illegals out. There is no easy solution for sure but either way a decision should be made and something done.

I think IF illegals are allowed to stay...it should only be if they have and can keep a job and pay taxes no matter what the job.

I agree that language is a big part of the problem, but restricted to just illegals.I live in a part of the country that has changed drastically in demographics. There are times when i have felt that I live in Latin America in my own backyard. I have met many from other countries who are more interested in changing the U.S. to be more like their old country instead of keeping in touch with their culture but adapting also to the culture of America....i would assume that was part of the reason why they would want to be here.I know many that know English but refuse to speak it around people who do not speak their native language and also know people who refuse to speak their native language even around their own family. I think somewhere in the middle would benefit our country the most, keeping pride in your heritage but taking pride in the history and culture of the land you have invested your future in.

I also believe companies are a big part of the problem in not enforcing the laws that govern them...bottom line its just to easy to work illegally and in some cases condoned even by our very own government. Most people would be shocked to know that even if you are an illegal alien, the IRS will give you a tax id number if you want to pay taxes volountarily!! I was amazed to find this out!

A "war" is a goodname for it for sure.Lives are at stake, different cultures taking opposite sides, and the outcome of how its finished could potentially be destructive to the U.S. I do agree on the futility of trying to kick all illegals out and that anyone without a job who could otherwise work should go as they arent contributing anything to the economy. Unfortunately its the ones not working thnat are the hardest to find.

I actually think a wall would be a great idea not just because of illegals but defending our borders as well. Maybe it would also help keep the U.S money made by illegals in the U.S!!

The system designed to enforce the laws is definately part of the problem by making it comfortable and easy for illegals to stay here.I think we can all agree that learning the native language of any country would be a good start if you want to stay and for that matter even if only to blend in..lol.And thanks for the compliment...pretty damn sexy yourself.

One of my pet peeves is people speaking their language in public, you want the rights we Americans have then learn English for crying out loud. I agree I am not learning a second language because of them. I would learn a language if I was going to live in their country. If you come here illegally then you should be held responsible, pay fines and then start paying taxes. People that come here legally are exempt from paying taxes for 7 years....WTF? The ones that are here legally are usually hard working and do jobs that a lot of others won't. I don't think a mass sweep would work, find them one at a time and the companies that hire illegals should also be held responsible. I guess you hit a nerve with me, too.

p.s. I even respect the line "His Lameness George W!"
Thanks for your comments and enlightning information.I actually had no idea illegals were tax exept for 7 years??? Is there some reasoning behind this?? If anything i would think they should have to pay back taxes for when they were here illegally. Another example of the system condoning illegal working.

Thanks very mcuh for your comments, you make some great points there. Part of the problem we face is that however it was allowed to happened, they now ARE part of our nations infrastucture and thats not likely to change unless we play on ripping the U.S apart and then rebuiding it from the ground up. Finding a solution that works now and also for the future without destroying this country doing it is the key.

You make a great point about tax day and amnesty. The greater question may be how do achieve your belief without finacially damaging our economy. I think the "free" ride that illegals get monetarily is what burns hard working people the most. Thanks for taking the time for coming and commenting.

I would like to thank everyone again for coming and giving your opinions and comments. Although this is formost an adult sex site, i do believe a good cross-section of Americans reside here in Blogland and your opinions are greatly appreciated on this very difficult problem facing our nation. Whatever your viewpoint i think we can all agree that not matter what is done it surely will be better than doing nothing.

Keep the aliens, deport Bush and Cheney. We'd be better off.

I find it interesting that everyone commenting here seems to think all illegals speak Spanish ... Are they the only ones you're against?

It is a very difficult question. Perhaps we should just abolish borders ...

I personally am not against any particular group, but you bring up an interesting point.I think very few people fail to realize there are illegals from many countries here. I can only speculate that Spanish speaking illegals are brought to the forefront of this dilemma because they are the largest part and most visible of all the illegal aliens. I certainly feel they don't help their situation as a group by generally not learning the language as other groups of illegals have to simply blend in.

frogger1995 39F

4/16/2006 9:17 pm

I truly beleive they contribute more than they take away. Amnesty is appropriate and fine posed is as well, since they did after all break the law. There would have to be some sort of proof that they were actually here before the law went into effect otherwise the floodgates would open up.

I personally don't have problems with this particular issue. Being from LA I know waaaaay too many illegals to have a problem with them as a whole.
