The Spice of Life

How our tastes change.

When I was growing up there were certain foods that I didn't care for. It's natural. Our taste buds change as we grow older.

I remember not liking pea soup. Not so bad now.
Olives - still no good. Could ruin something for me. Not too much can. I'll eat just about anything (make all the comments you want about that).
Mushrooms. Take 'em or leave 'em. But... But, a few years ago I took a chance on a big portabella mushroom appetizer. OMG it was great. The next year when I was at the same place they had it again and down it went.

A few years ago I was introduced to putting hot peppers on sub sandwiches (grinders for you New England folks, Hero's or some others). Very tasty. I have found I like and can tolerate spicy foods much more than when I was a kid. I go out of my way to order the spicy stuff.

So what do you eat now that you didn't eat as a kid? Anything you now have a particular liking to?

I hated broccoli as a kid....but I like it now....as long as it's cooked! But there are still alot of things that I don't like...then or now! Salad dressing....of any kind, mustard....bluecheese....coleslaw....raw onions, cooked are ok though. Come to think of it...I'm kind of picky! lol

That's two votes agains bluecheese. I can definately do the raw onions thing. Cooked, it depends on how and what they are on.
My dad hates broccoli. Seems to be many people have that aversion.

I would have a real problem without milk. Cereal every morning. One can only do so much soy milk. I hear too much isn't good for men. Can you take any of the pills?

Loved Tomato soup when I was a kid with a grilled cheese sandwich.
I am getting better with mushrooms. Don't think I'll ever do the olives thing.
Just a few pics. Won't put them up here. Will certainly share them with you. TTYS

So much food, so little time. I'm going to make a point of looking for turnips on menus. This needs to be investigated. Thanks.
