New Years Eve - A Retrospective

I remember when it was Y2K; the year 2000. It was for me, being in IT, alot about the dreaded Y2K bug. Had to be at work New Years day to make sure all systems were go before everyone returned to work. We made out OK.
But It was New Years Eve that year which I will remember most. The special thing about it was that years TV coverage. They did New Years around the world starting with the first country to ring in the New Year. They followed it from country to country. It made me think how wonderful it was that a large part of the world was all about the same thing that night. Made me think of this place we call home as one big community; THE WORLD. It gave me hope that someday everyone would see it as one world, the world united. That we could all live together without all the fighting and share this place. It was magical. I wish the TV coverage would be more about the similarities and shared experiences of people around the world rather than about the differences. About all the good things rather than the tragic.
I liked New Years that year. I hope it doesn't take 1000 years for that perspective to come back.
Peace be with you all.
