Hump day, and that is a good thing!

Ok, I have some bones to pick with my NC fellow citizens. In the local paper today, we are being told that the price of reg. gas is likely to stay above $3/gal for some time. The reason? WE ARE THE REASON! The consumption here in NC, and I am sure elsewhere, is still high and not expected to decrease. I noticed this morning on my commute to work that there were no cars, trucks or any kind of vehicle with more than one person in them. Including mine! Now, we have got to change what we do, or the damn oil barons are going to eat our lunch, literally. We have to show them that we can do things differently, even if it hurts some. The alternative is to say by default, charge what you like for the gas, we will keep buying it no matter what else has to slip. Maybe my children will have to wear clothes a little longer, maybe I will eat a little less, maybe I will forgo my required medication every other day. These are the choices you and I have to make, or we can just stop doing stupid things and thinking as if it was 1995 and the price of gas was only hovering around a buck, not five bucks a gallon. More later, got to get to work!
I got an email from a friend who bought an E-Bike earlier this year, before our current crisis in pricing of gas. He is now seeing a significantly shorter payback on his investment with every price hike of gas. I love his statement on the subject. " By far, the biggest benefit from all of this is attitude. I know there's an energy crisis, but I don't feel it. When I cycle past a gas station, I check to see how much quicker I'm paying my bike off instead of what I'm going to have to cut out of my lifestyle. And, when I get off my bike after a commute, I feel good. Even when the commute ends at work!"
See, gang, you can make changes and enjoy the adventure. I hope I can get this message across to more and more people. Will you help me? WE have to do something to change things. There is no they, we are the "they".
