What a ringtone should do

I have had friends who were very passionate about keeping ringtones on our cell phones simple. They say it should sound just like a telephone ring and not some silly song. I happen to agree with that to some extent because most tones are annoying. However, something happened to me while I was in England doing my clinical year. I was walking through Camden where all the markets are and I got a phone call from my folks. At the time, my ringtone was the actual mp3 Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses. Two people who were walking by me heard it go off before I did and started singing along. They kept singing even after I answered the phone.

So the next time you decide on a ring and want something other than a ring ring sound, pick something you think will reach people. A top 50 pop tune isn't really what I mean. There has to be something special about the song. It has to be a classic. P.I.M.P. by 50 Cent may get a chuckle out of your friends, but it won't brighten their day.

You could always just set it to vibrate. (I had to mention vibration given the adult oriented surroundings)

My current setup:
I changed it back to a simple ring ring and customized hotel california when my gf calls.
