Some thoughts on integrity

I was recently reading a post on lying and started thinking about integrity. I wonder if integrity is about your actions, someone else’s actions, your thoughts, how you act in the world or all of the above.

One of my favorite old authors is a fellow named Robert Ringer. He felt there were only three types of people in the world. The first group would work in their best interest and be up front about it. The second group would think they would work in your best interest, but when push came to shove, they would act in their own best interest. The third group would pretend they were working in your best interest and know all along they were going to change the rules and make the deal come out in their interest.

I find the first group is the people I have the most trust in and know they have high integrity when dealing with others. When I deal with people from this group, they understand that for them to get what they want, they have to make it a good deal for me also.

When I think about life and love, it seems to make sense to me we have to take care of ourselves. By doing so, we allow space for others in our life and have the ability to share with them.

For me this means allowing happiness for me flows over to others I come in contact with. The more I do to make myself attractive on a mental, metaphysical and physical plane the more and better people I can attract. It all comes down to being true to oneself and staying with our own sense of integrity.

What are your thoughts on integrity as it relates to your own well being as well as to others around you?

Skier0752...
Good point. It is true that you can get what you want, by understanding that it comes best from helping others get what they want.
Welcome to blogging, Skier.

hi -

integrity is central to some people and peripheral to other

if it isn't central - then i probably won't spend much time with that person

"to thine own self be true" funny how some sayings just never get hackneyed

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

I totally agree. I have little use and will not work professionally with people who don't have high integrity. I used to rail against people who aren't integrous in their actions. Now I just cut them out of my life. ---Thanks for responding. I also enjoy your posts.
