Fireworks

There were fireworks tonight...a yearly event not far from me. Close enough to look out the windows and see and they shake the house as well. It is a competition of sorts, several countries in friendly combat...much to the delight of many people that gather. They are (the fireworks) accompanied with music. I didn't have a schedule as to who was competing which night...but it didn't matter...they were all wonderful.
Last weekend when they first started, I was alone as the lil whisper was at his dad's. I heard the first of the test firings and went out to a vantage point in a field nearby to watch. It was then that I remembered a promise I made last year. I was to take someone to go see them up close this year and had looked forward to it as well. But, had forgotten about it till now.
I was a little overwhelmed with emotion and as I watched the sky light up before me, one explosion made a bigger impact one me. As I thought of my mom...a burst of light overhead and it was in the shape of.... a heart.
It could have been a coincidence...it may have been a fluke, or a trick played on me by my eyes, but I don't think so.
I like to think of it as a little sign from her.
I need to.
A few days later, my son and I watched them and he noticed the tear rolling silently down my cheek and asked me why I was crying. I told him that I had made a promise and to who.
He rubbed my shoulder and said "Mom, don't worry. she has the best seat for the fireworks now"...and he wiped the teat from my cheek and smiled at me.
I am very fortunate, to have a wise little man living with me, and to watch him grow up, into a wonderful human being.

*smiles*

Yes, you are fortunate that you have your little companion. Without his dad there you know that he knows he is the little man in your life....and he senses things.

My family had a similar experience when we buried my mom's sister. It was blustery and cloudy all day. Just prior to the trip to the cemetery it started to rain. As the last words were being spoken the weather broke, the umbrellas were retracted and a huge rainbow covered the sky from one end to the other. My uncle and my mom broke down and wept.

Shy,

Lil Shy learns from you, Shy. You are his example. Much of what you see in him came from you, your kindness, your gentleness, the way you see the world, all of the little things that so many miss each and every day that you don't miss, now either does he. That it is a good thing to use your heart and not just your head. This is what true parenting is...by example, as you do each and every day.

You are wonderful Shy

Shine....It is hard to know what the "right" thing to do is...they don't come with manuals or instructions. Maybe its best that way
Parents do not always hear that they are making the right decisions or choices, and they are usually at the brunt of all that can go wrong...thank you...I needed to read this today..and know that I am ...okay.

What a very remarkable and wonderful young man. You must be at once, very lucky, very proud, and so very good at raising him. Thank you for this insight.
