NOBODY CARES ANYMORE.....

Nobody Cares Anymore….

I just thought I would share one of the things that really bugs me. It’s the fact that no body cares any more, and I don’t know why.

I was always brought up to look up to and respect my elders, which I did and I do, I recognise the sacrifices they made so I can live with the freedoms I have today. But I am beginning to wonder if I am the only one who cares. I used to own a business that looked after the elderly, in a retirement home. We closed the business for several reasons but some of them hurt me more than most. The thing that really sickened me was that no body cared for them, yes the staff were nice to them, they looked after them well, but they did not care for them, all they wanted to know was how much they were getting paid and why weren’t they getting more. It’s a fare point, I would liked to have given them more but where does the money come from, we could not charge the old people any more as some of them were struggling to pay what they were, the government was not going to give any more, the company was not making any money, where was the money to come from. The staff did not care they just wanted more, and there was no more to be had.

The doctors did not care, the elderly were a drain on there recourses and they were only going to die. Once a long time ago I had respect for doctors they worked long hours under difficult situations, not now, hell the y now work 9 ‒ 6 and all out of hours work is covered by the local on call doctor company. I would not have believed it if I had not seen it but the ones I dealt with treated the elderly with contempt and as an inconvenience. We employed nurses in the home as we cared about our residents, nurses are highly trained professional people who on the whole do care, that’s why so many of them are leaving the NHS as they are frustrated by the lack of caring as the paperwork increases. My nurse called the doctor out as one of my elderly residents was dieing, the practise nurse refused to let her speak to the doctor, and refused to send out the doctor, we had to get the lady’s lawyer to call the doctor and insist that they attend to the lady. They did come out after that, there was not much that could be done as she was dieing but they gave her medication to make her more comfortable. She died two days later and the doctor made several more visits, but the point is they should have come when we first requested them.

I don’t know what the world will be like in the future, but I don’t think it will be a nice place to live in. The young people today do not care about anything but themselves, we live in an I want it now culture where debt is spiralling out of control. We live in a society where the elderly can be attacked beaten and .

NO ONE CARES ANYMORE AND THAT REALY UPSETS ME.

There are some people that still care, Scotty. I do know that they are hard to find sometimes. There is so much unfairness in this world that it's a wonder that anyone can find anything to smile about. Many people theses days are beyond selfish - young and aged alike. One of the most frustrating things about that is: we can't change how other people are. All we can do is our personal best to right what is wrong. To care where others do not. To pick up the mess left by those before us. It is upsetting that this is what the world has become, but there are many good qualities to be founds as well. You won't find those good qualities in the media - they thrive on pain, disaster, and horror. You'll have to look closer to home. I hope you find some of those good qualities to help you through the frustrating times.

Here it is, almost a year later and I'm first reading this post. There is little dignity in aging. The aged are the people I worry about when the weather is extreme. I cringe when I watch an elderly person try and cross the street before the light changes. And that is only the beginning. Aging and the elderly are issues that I cannot talk about it without become upset. It's a travesty how our government (and a major part of society) attempts to sweep them under the rug.
