Fairness and Equality My New Religion

Fairness and Equality My New Religion

I was busy filling in a form today and down at the bottom it asked for my religion, and for the first time in my life I could honestly say that I don’t know. I was brought up as a Christian with the Church of Scotland, but have too many issues with the established church to feel comfortable putting that down. The more I look around at the world the more I am troubled by established religions; I am beginning to see them as weapons of mass control.

The Bible and Koran appear to me to be tools used by the privileged few to exert a control over the many. I can’t say much about the Koran except to say that it seems to be open to interpretation; we see religious leaders over here saying, the Koran preaches peace and love, yet look at the atrocities that are committed in the name of Islam.

The Christian Church is far from being, whiter than white either. We have a long history of persecution, the crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the dissolution of the monasteries, Hitler’s persecution of the Jews, the troubles in Northern Ireland, everywhere I look I see death and destruction in the name of religion.

All religions seem to be a men only club, women are not fairly represented, in fact they are subjugated and certainly not treated as equals. You will never see a woman as Pope, or as a leader of any other established religion. Where is the equality that they preach?

The Churches continue to plead poverty, looking to us through the collection plate. Yet in the United Kingdom the Church is one of the biggest land owners, yet despite falling attendances the church has never considered selling some of there land and downsizing, no it prefers the begging bowl.

No, when I look at religion I am sorely disappointed, I see corrupt power hungry organisations who are only interested in feathering there own nests and perpetuating there own existence by whatever means it takes.

It is said that one of the reasons that no government will come clean about UFO’s and extraterrestrials is that it would undermine and destroy all religions. If that is true then perhaps it’s now time shake the world to its foundations, and perhaps we can start again without hatred and no more death in the name of religion. The planet could unite as human beings and move forward together to face a brand new challenge.

For now I will list my religion as fairness and equality, the two things I believe in without reservation.
