THE STREET

THE PURPOSE OF THIS IS TO HIGHLITE(IF THAT IS THE RIGHT WORD TO USE)WHAT I JOKINGLY CALL "CHAS AND DAVE STREET".THIS BEING THE ROAD WHERE I LIVED FOR THE FIRST TWENTY YEARS OF MY LIFE.
HENCE WHENEVER I BEMOAN THE FACT OF "WE NEVER HAD THIS OR THAT IN CHAS AND DAVE STREET",I'M FOREVER MAKING COMPARISONS WITH MY CHILDHOOD DAYS AND PAINTING A PICTURE OF DEEP POVERTY,BASIC AMENITIES,CAST OFF HAND-ME-DOWN CLOTHING,EYC,.(YOU GET THE PICTURE).
LIFE THEN WAS NOT A TOTAL BED OF ROSES BUT THE PICTURE I PAINT EACH TIME WOULD BRING A TEAR TO A SOCIL WORKERS FACE,
QUITE A LOT OF LARGE FAMILIES GREW UP ON THE CROWDED, SPRAWLING HOUSING ESTATES. ALL WORKING CLASS,ALL WITH LITTLE MONEY,ONLY DADS WAGE TO KEEP THE WHOLE FAMILY.AND VERY FEW LUXURIES.
"LUXURIES? THE ONLY LUXURIES WE HAD IN CHAS AND DAVE STREET WERE OLDER BROTHERS,AT LEAST YOU KNEW WHO'D WORN THE JUMPER BEFORE IT WAS PASSED DOWN TO YOU"
AH CHILDHOOD DAYS........,WE MAY HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT AT LEAST WE WERE CLEAN AND HEALTHY ,NOT LIKE KIDS OF TODAY. WE NEVER HAD.....BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY. WERE TIMES REALLY THAT BAD FOR US ALL,BACK THEN,IN "CHAS AND DAVE" STREET?
