BFE and Where Is It?

BFE is 'Bum F**k Egypt'. I believe it is different for everyone. My BFE happens to be a very small town about halfway between Houston and San Antonio.

Don't get me wrong. It's a nice enough little town. There is very little to do here. No movie theater, a few eating establishments (most fast food), lots of little Gladys Cravitts wanna bes. One of those places where just about everyone knows your name, who your parents are, all your siblings, even the name of your dog, and just can't forget that one time you fell down the stairs of the high school, or the time you let your Mom perm your hair and it was a terrible mistake.

This is the place I grew up. For the most part it was pretty good. We didn't get into too much trouble. Kids nowdays seem to destroy things to have fun. We did things like catching a couple of raccoons and putting them in the school at night. Or papering a teacher's house. Although that was pretty dumb. The teacher always knew who did it, and we ended up having to clean it up.

Of course, I couldn't live in the city any more. I lived for a while in Memphis, TN. About 3 miles from the airport and 5 miles from Graceland. The apartment was okay. The cops only came one time for the lady downstairs.

For the most part, I like where I live now. Even being next door to my Dad. I have a large, pretty front yard. I have a fire ring out front under some oaks (because I don't have a fireplace). And that's my place to sit and relax, light a fire, and have a few drinks.

Now if I can just find homes for the puppies ...

Thanks Nikki.
You are right ... small towns are the best for raising kids. Much easier to keep an eye on them and their friends. And all those people that know everything ... are good sources of info about what kids are doing. So it's not all bad.

Purple is my favorite color, and Roses my favorite flower. Too bad I don't have someone to give them to me more often ....
