To Daddy from his Bug Kid

Looking through the years,
rediscovering memories long since past.
The days of youthful hijinks,
of hours of laughter,
of tears and strife.
He's always been there,
cut from the same cloth as me.
It's amazing how much we are alike,
and how much we differ.
One from one generation,
and one from another.
The way we talk is the same,
and we have the the same eyes.
I get my stubbornness from him,
and my elocution,
my temper,
and my patience.
I'll always be his little girl,
even when I'm old and gray.
Over the years,
he's taught me so many things.
From how to throw a baseball,
to changing the oil on a car.
From riding a bike,
to how to drive.
I've always been his Bug Kid,
his first-born,
and his little red-headed girl.
Through smiles and tears,
throughout the years,
he's the Dad I love the best.

Happy Father's Day to those of the past who are no longer with us, to those who are present today.

Toodles!
