Gone Too Soon

I write this with a heavy heart. They always tell you to be sure to drink lots of fluids in times of extreme heat or else you risk suffering heat stroke. Now, it's hit a little close to home.

Last night, my brother lost his friend Dave to heat stroke. Dave was only 22 years old. So much left to live for and he's gone. He was driving home from work last night. As he was talking to his girlfriend on the phone, he passed out from heat stroke. It killed him. He was also involved in a car accident as well, injuring someone else.

My brother is taking this rather hard. He's rather abraisive and doesn't really socialize with anyone. So, when he does consider someone a friend, it's someone he feels is a really cool person to be around.

I personally have never met Dave, but I can't help but send my wishes out to his family. Such a young life ripped away from this world. I was in shock when I learned the news. My brother was telling me earlier this afternoon that last night, Dave's eyes looked glazed over and was having trouble getting his body temperature down. *sigh* If only someone had recognized the symptoms, he might still be here today. Somebody must have thought he was just exhausted.

*bows head in a moment of silence*

Dave, I may never have met you, but you helped my brother learn to go out and enjoy life again. I know you'll be looking down on everyone and smiling. You may be gone, but not forgotten.

Friends, thanks for letting me pour my heart out.

Hugs and Kisses
