Assembled in the light

Been doing leisure stuff in the new hot weather, we've been kneedeep in all sorts

Spent yesterday soaking up some sinuous architecture at the Paragon, which rests perfectly in its landscape. The marriage of inside to outside is a happy one. I thought it might be chilly or clinical as it's so pure, shiny and ├╝bermodern but it wasn't - it just felt very clean and simple in execution. I guess that's the mark of really well-thought-out design..you don't notice the details, you can just submerge in the experience. It was almost Japanese in feel; had all those elements of less being much much more.

It made me realise that there are 2 kinds of simplicity: one which costs nothing and one which costs in excess of £100m and the experiences are nowhere near related to one another. We left with a feeling of having been in natural flow all day, like kayaking with the current.

Brilliant.
