-burning memory-

Deeds done,
long past yet fresh,
a wound healed,
yet bits remain,
mixed within the scar tissue,
a dull itch at best,
an ache in the cold,
survival brings it’s own rewards,
it’s own ...costs.
A muscle torn, now healed,
twinges in the night,
moments frozen and sharp,
while heat can ease the pain,
like a tooth bothered by the tongue,
the memory carries it’s own weight,
plaguing the brain,
in night or market square,
unbidden,
but like time, you march on.

...burning dreams... is more like it...
as I look to the future
I long to play a game
of chess with you my dear..
