I know, cybersex has a bad name with a lot of people here, yet it also seems to be very widely practiced. I can understand that a person-to-person encounter would be preferred by most people, everything else being equal, and I count myself among those who would. But these things are seldom equal. There are serveral real risks that apply only to the real meeting, including safety, disease, discovery, and failure to showup. The sex itself might even be better, but then again, it might not. Issues of performance are perhaps more stark in an actual encounter, but cybersex can also be done well, or done poorly. And there can be as strong an emotional tie forged in a cyber relationship as in a real-world one, with the same potential for hurtful behavior or consequences.

Cybersex offers a safer playing field, but its most valuable property is that it provides the opportunity to share the lust and excitement of sex with another for an activity that would otherwise mostly likely be done anyway, but all alone. Can that provide a better experience? It certainly can, but there are no guarantees. It might be mediocre or it might be superb. Making it superb requires some skill and effort. And guys, the ladies appreciate the warmth of affection and a concern for their pleasure, too. Wham-Bam isn't good sex either in cyber or in a motel room. Be concerned for your partner and let it show.

Good cybersex also requires good and full communications. A few words will not create rich mental images for your partner. If you don't create a feeling of vibrant excitement for your partner you will be denied the robust feedback upon which the quality of your own experience depends. The objective may be reached without this but lack the toe-curling crescendo that is possible.

The bottom line seems to me to be that cybersex, very much like any other form of sex, must be done well to be good. And again like other forms of sex fewer people do it well than self-assessments would imply. That would certainly explain some of the bad name it carries.

I will be the first to admit, the real thing is better, but I have had lots of fun with cybersex and it is safe!

Sunshine -

Thanks for stopping by and for adding your comment. I certainly agree that the real thing can be better, and doesn't require as high a level of performance to still be very good. I guess I'd phrase the follow-up question as, "Have you found some of the cybersex you have had to have been better than some of the real thing?"
